You can let me know how you'd like the money to be used, either to buy bike locks or bike lights for students, or to buy food, warming supplies, hygiene supplies, or bus passes for people who I see on my rides.

Commute by bike and see just how many people are on their phones all the time when driving.
What drivers see no matter what you wear:
Car touch screen Texting while driving
I carry tools but it's still tough to change the rear tube on a heavy cargo bike, especially with kids in it.
Missed Connections:

You, riding a Tern into Hamtramck from Detroit looking cool as hell

Me, riding an Urban Arrow going the other way looking like I just got off work

Whoever you are, you're great.
And there are many thousands more unregistered EVs!
Still waiting to win the lottery to get one myself.

Back at Ted's Bike Shop yesterday afternoon. Found a flat tire when I left work, pumped it up and was able to do school and daycare pickup before it went flat again. Ted found a tiny piece of wire in the tire. Less than 20 minutes and we were back on the road!

"I moved to an area where my kids can bike to school, because as an advocate for livable cities, I wanted my kids to experience what it feels like to be free. And I wanted to be able to sleep in." -Cyprine Odada, founder of Women Shaping Cities, Nairobi

In the Detroit mayor’s race, CP Sheffield is running on a “track record of delivering results for Detroiters” while Rev. Kinloch accuses her of “12 years of failed leadership.”

Here’s the truth:
What Mary Sheffield delivered — and didn’t — for Detroit
Mayoral hopeful and council president Mary Sheffield's opponent has accused her of "failed leadership." Politicos call the criticism unwarranted.

A Detroit high school has found an unconventional approach to reducing chronic absenteeism — giving every student at the school a bicycle. The bikes made student's commutes shorter and more predictable than they were on city buses, which helped to improve attendance.
These Detroit students say free bikes helped address some systemic issues that cause chronic absenteeism
The Detroit school district is considering giving bikes to chronically absent students in other schools.

When my car was stolen, the police initially wasted my time by continually asking if I had left it unlocked or forgot that I let someone borrow it. Then after they finally took the report they said "let us know if you find it".
I wonder how many of the conservative police boosters have ever tried to file a police report or needed them to do the basics of their job. I don't know anyone who has ever had a good experience with the police doing the bare minimum of their job when they need them too

Abolish the Senate, but if we must have one, institute a maximum combined age of 100 for both senators from a state. If you want an 83 year old senator, the other has to be 17 or under.

Every night after dinner, regardless of weather, my little family puts on whatever gear is necessary and goes for a walk together. Sometimes it’s 10-15 min if it’s cold. Sometimes it’s over an hour.

My kids love it and they love taking turns leading the walk to whatever we get into that day
"We walked as a family," she said, remembering her childhood in the Chicago suburbs. "Especially with my dad, who walked fast, so it was always kind of an honor to walk with him if I could keep up. I walked to grade school, close by, and walked to high school, much father. It's been part of my religion. It's what I do."
I see he has like 3 magnets and a broom and stuff...
Seems pretty easy to make with a bike trailer and a big magnet sweeper... $200 all in for a decent set-up?

"Make sure you are visible"
"Okay, sure"
"Not like that!!!"

It doesn't matter anyway, it's all deflection and victim blaming when we don't have safe infrastructure.

Hi! You are currently being recorded!
You also said "look where we are now". Violent crime in Detroit is down because of community violence intervention efforts. Curfews have no impact.
Crime is already illegal. So if a child is committing a crime, they can be arrested and held responsible (along with their parents).

Honestly I don't know, but children still have certain rights under the constitution just like everyone else, supposedly.

I mean, Michigan recently ruled that school districts have no obligation to actually teach children to read.
