Just discovering these guys (thanks to eldest son). I shall be gracing them with my presence in Liverpool on Thursday, even though it will take me beyond my bedtime…

(name taken from Fall song, I gather)
Or to put it another way, nearly twice as many Ethnic Minority Britons (in % terms) don’t feel well represented…

Curious emphasis. Almost as if they have an agenda to push.
27% of white Britons say they don't feel well represented in advertising in terms of their race, with Reform MP Sarah Pochin causing a row on the subject

White Britons
Well represented: 65%
Not well represented: 27%

Ethnic minority Britons
Well: 42%
Not well: 51%

Why would they want to highlight only 27%? That’s really low. You could get more than 27% whinging about almost anything…!

L.S. Lowry was born on this day 1887 at 8 Barrett Street, Old Trafford.
Made in Pendlebury, born in Stretford: L.S. Lowry (1887-1976) remains the artist most closely associated with the north. ‘My ambition was to put the industrial scene on the map because nobody had seriously done it,’ he said. Incredibly, nobody had. 1/6

Wherever we looked for the prominent flaggers and leaders of this movement, we found people smugglers and sex doll salesmen, people with dubious criminal pasts and people willing to put in a good word for Adolf Hitler.

Nigel Farage says this summer’s movement was led by ‘ordinary people’ expressing their patriotism. That’s not what we found

Once I’d figured out which side of the vinyl was Side 1 (overcoming typical Factory obscurity)
Spoiler: it doesn’t go well for him.

Good book though, if you want to learn about what a real small boats crisis looks likes…
It’s amazing what you can learn from history books.
‘So what’s your dad’s nickname then?’
‘The conqueror, William the Conqueror’
‘And you’re his eldest son?’
‘Yeah. That’s right.’
‘And what’s your nickname?’
‘Shorty-Pants’

All that I ask is that the culture secretary not ask questions which reveal she couldn’t tell you who *this year*’s Bafta shortlistees and winners were.
Hi Lisa Nandy! I’m a BAFTA winner from a small town. Instead of asinine questions like this, why not tell us how we can continue to make a living in the eviscerated creative sector over which you notionally preside?
I grin and bear it when people say “can I get?” when ordering or answer “I’m good” to “how are you?” But this is too much. Somebody needs to start a campaign to save the great British arse…
The Guardian has gone TOO FAR this time. It's a British paper; we say "half-arsed", not "half-assed". FFS.
I wouldn’t believe Shakespeare. His history plays make the recent William the Conqueror thing look like a precise historical record…
Edward IV (or Richard III, if you believe Shakespeare) dealt with problem brothers differently. A drop of malmsey wine anyone..?

Beatrice and Eugenie will be keeping their titles! I can’t tell you how relieved I am. No really, I can’t, it’s barely detectable even on a nanoscale…
We did have the burning effigies of catholic pyrotechnicians thing. That was very popular. Used to trawl the neighbourhood in gangs searching for wood.
I shall resist the Grumpy Old Man moan that we didn’t have this trick or treat nonsense when I was a lad.

We didn’t though…

England's highly deprived areas are concentrated in the North and West Midlands.

Borne the brunt of state led deindustrialization to appease the City of London.

Govts focused on London & South East done little to repair damage done by austerity, poverty.

Jaywick, a seaside town in Essex, has been named the most deprived area for a fourth time in a row.

Can't overstate how fucked up it is that unraveling what is arguably the greatest achievement in the history of humanity is now a motivating issue of one of the two dominant parties in the U.S.
FL is moving forward w/ plan to end all childhood vaccine mandates. Starting with hepatitis B, chickenpox, and the bacteria causing meningitis and pneumonia. Then next year GOP FL legislature is expected to revisit 1977 law re: whooping cough, measles, polio, rubella, mumps, diphtheria, and tetanus.

● Andrew Windsor remains 8th in the line of succession.

●King Charles III will privately fund his new living arrangements despite Andrew being very rich indeed

● Actually we don't know how wealthy Andrew is because his mother's will is sealed for 90+ years

● Sleep well serfs.

● Know your place.

Bit of a slur on Richard III with the Leicestershire bit though. He wouldn’t want to be associated with Randy Andy. Might damage his reputation…
