From 2021. Any update on all this city owned land???

@thatseankeenan.bsky.social shop at Azalea then shop at Savi and compare prices, please.

5. Prices are HIGH!! - like how is this place cheaper than Savi?? Silk is priced at $6.59 (under $4 at Kroger). OJ 46 oz 6.19 on sale for $4.99. Normally $4.99 at Kroger, on sale $4. Just a cpl examples.

It was only college kids in there when I visited.

Need reported to compare Savi to Azalea

Hyped speciality components aren’t open on the weekends and close early during the week. So no quick grab meals or coffee for weekenders.

4. Signage still says coming soon- the curb appeal is lacking and just lazy

So who likely has cash and who has cards. Hard to serve everyone without accepting cash at all times.

2. Lots of empty space- coolers and shelves fully empty. Lots of areas not restocked. If you trying to sell stuff, you gotta have it in stock.

3. No sushi or coffee bar on the weekends- the much..

So my review of the downtown Azalea Fresh isn’t as glowing as the ATL PR machine. Stopped in today (Sunday).

1. No cash accept today - had a sign up saying cards only. When I inquired, they said they normally accept cash but had no cash today, like someone forgot to go the bank yesterday…

The mayor's TAD-grab PR team accuses Dan Immergluck, who critiqued their plan, of misinformation!
Well, hit dogs will holler. And every accusation is a confession.
Facts:
Extending the TADs will increase taxes to make up for the diversion of revenue.
TADs are unaccountable slush funds.

🧵1/3

I've argued against a 25-year extension of all the (already) 20+year-old tax increment financing districts (TADs) in Atlanta. Someone sent me an email from "Atlantans for Safety" arguing against my explanation for why extending the TADs is a bad idea. Their email & my responses are (next)...

Another reason CM Bond needs to lose in November
atlpresscollective.com
Bond introduced an ordinance to extend the life of several tax allocation districts, including the Beltline and Westside, to 2055.

Same for FulCo commissioners. Hopefully FulCo puts a torpedo into this idea, too.

🚨 Endorsement Alert: Atlanta City Council President Felicia Moore!

She’s one of our city’s sharpest policy minds. Served for 20+ years. She advocated for greater ethics and transparency. She’s been a mentor (+ someone I’ve had plenty of debates with) for over the past decade.

I’m very grateful.

Honestly, Dan and Julian are probably the smartest people in the room to talk about this and Sean the ablest journalist to cover it. Worth a read of the whole thread and exchanges.

"Immergluck...said the mayor’s proposal 'begs the question of why.' By extending the TADs, the city 'would be siphoning off dollars that should be going to schools, basic city services and citywide affordable housing.'"

Extending TIFs for another 25 years in a **Red Hot City** makes no sense. 1/4

3/4 ...have been for very low-income folks (<50% AMI). TIFs are intended to spur development in distressed nabes, not siphon off property tax revenues meant for schools & services & corral them into often already gentrifying/gentrified areas. Atlanta is one of fastest gentrifying cities in county.

marta is yet again single-tracking and short-turning its entire system while Bobby Dodd Stadium, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, and State Farm Arena have events, according to data gathered by @thexylom.com.

Hundreds of thousands are on the streets of Atlanta, with a train that runs every 20 minutes.

Data point #354, some of the worst NIMBYs are gentrifiers who don't want certain kinds of folks in their nabe.

*Kirkwood is a now mostly-gentrified neighborhood on the eastern boundary of Atlanta. It was predominantly Black for many years.

I wrote something about all the kudos (from media & think tanks) that Atlanta's Dickens Administration has been receiving recently about its affordable housing activities.

(Good thing I am physically in Chicago.)
