State and local candidates then become your farm team for statewide and federal offices in 2028+. You might find people who are unusually skilled at campaigning or fundraising or organizing

We saw this with the ACA rollout, where a number of states just didn’t care to fill in gaps that the law seemed to assume states would just step in to fill up.
The entire country is so vast and diverse that the whole system is architected on subsidiarity.

The federal government simply does not have the infrastructure or people or money to achieve its goals without state and municipal help

State and local governments. I can't overstate how important it is for Dems to contest every state legislative race, in every district, everywhere

You live in Wyoming in an R+25 district? Run a Dem anyway. In an Alabama R+50? Run a Dem. Electing a dog catcher in MS? Run

How best can democracy survive if Democrats can't flip both House and Senate in 2026?

(I know: dumbass unknowable question. Curious to hear you riff on it, though.)

TL;DR: "everything, everywhere, all at once" needs to be Dem candidate recruitment policy for at least the next two election cycles, and really should be normalized into standard electoral strategy

I’ve done some double batches of dough in them and that is also very satisfying. Something about it is just… a pleasing amount of pre-bread.
I love my collection of cambros so much
Gotta work on a linen poncho!
Mmm I have to get a better fitting set of chausses because mine look stupid and are nothing but an irritation. But I think they’re actually a bit too small is the bug problem. A nice thick set of wool chausses that are the proper length are probably fine.
Well I have your lead if you ever need more of it.
Alas his schedule now runs through the weekend as he seems to be flying to Kuala Lumpur

Fall on Friday. This morning at Chicago's Promontory Point.
Aww. He was a good dog. My condolences.
But have you managed to get it to an interesting consistency before getting tired of the grinding? Because the grinding is definitely the worst part.
This took forever because I’m rusty and it took a while to realize I was using some of the limited tools wrong. Well. I got there eventually. Not having punches & drifts in the small sizes I use is part of the problem. Oh well.

This grabs the handles of a Dutch oven. A strap connects a pair.
Yet another reason that Chicago is just the best big city in the US
Chilly Chicago on Thursday. A walk this morning thru the autumn colors in Lincoln Park.

Working on a pair of hooks for a pot carrying strap.
Fried some chicken because I’m still working through an insane amount of chicken I got ages ago. And because I had some karaage over the weekend and it’s stuck with me.

Pretty tasty. Wouldn’t want to make a habit of it. Pleased I can wing it.

Also some dumplings made from leftover batter.
This place reminds me, though, that Fucking Rich money goes _really_ far in Chicago and you can get some amazing penthouse condos for like $5-6M downtown or a mansion by the lake up around Evanston.

Or pay $10M for a modern penthouse in a new tower, which I find less charming.

The thing about this guy is it seems like he tends to impulsively leap to decisions without understanding the full meaning or implications behind them and that's not exactly a trait I'm confident will serve him well in the United States Senate.
I thought that quote had to be a joke but no

I was in Portland a year ago I can confirm there is no shortage of Maine socialists to pick from whose dumb tattoo they got while drunk is, at worst, a lobster with big tits.
