If we are to build a movement that will be powerful enough to rise to this occasion, it will be important that people do not accuse each demographic that is unfamiliar to them of looking to foment violence.

You, presumably, would prefer that readers here take you at your word, rather than immediately doubting your honesty. Grant us the same courtesy, even if we come from a different organizing culture than you do.

It sounds like you're simply not familiar with anarchism. Please do some reading rather than assuming that it is a synonym for violence. Making the "No Kings" rallies into a site of confrontation would interfere with the express purpose of the call—that should be clear to anyone (else) who reads it.

There is no documented case of a single tear gas canister causing a stampede that kills hundreds—but that is beside the point. It is possible to imagine all sorts of things when you do not have much firsthand experience in protest situations. That's not your fault, but don't spread misinformation.

Do not misrepresent us—this is not a call for confrontation. It's not shields that cause police to tear-gas people, though they can help to protect you.

You need to experience firsthand that you can be in the presence of protesters who are prepared to defend you without that *increasing* your risk.
