I have been #Queer for my entire life and lived through a rather homophobic period of history. Yet, I have not heard the word "Queer" more in my life than when I began reading Tolkein. Dude loves the word. Uses the old meaning -- Weird -- but still. Queer, queer, queer, like its going out of style.

Closest anything official has ever been agreed upon was the explict compromise of ICD listing Compuslive Sexual Behavior Disorder but making it clear harm must occur to oneself or others before diagnosis. Which means most people who claim it wouldn't be diagnosed.

If you read the whole page, the general gist is, while some researchers suggest it exists, they haven't made a compelling case for it and most experts believe it is "based on conservative moral values around sexuality."

I am shocked my posts on sex and porn addiction not being recongized as real by the DSM or ICD went viral.

It's not like I'm an expert or did intense research. It's literally just on the wikipedia page of Sex Addiction.

Should be clear: I am not an artist. This is based on me working as a tax accountant. And I was often forced to work massive overtime (90/hrs a week with no days off for 3 months). This is more me saying "don't do to yourself what I did: it isn't worth it." 7/X

You are not a machine. If you don't rest your mind and body, you will break. You need to set boundaries.

If you are doing this on top of another job, my advice still does stand but it will be a lot more grueling. No way to make 2 jobs comfy from experience. 6/X

It doesn't need to be hostile. Just don't respond outside those hours -- its fine for clients to send emails outside those hours of course based on their availability but unreasonable to demand immediate tesponse. 4/X

You can make this easier to manage by setting expectations with clients up front. Just mention you are available for contact these days between these hours. People will try to ignore your boundaries. They always do. You just need to plant your feet and not let them. 3/X

My advice is to have a seperate email for work and don't check two CONSECUTIVE days a week. Can be any days you choose.

You start work at one jour and end EIGHT HOURS later with a one hour break. Then, no checking messages or working. But you lock in for that 8 hrs. 2/X

Being your own boss comes with a frustration because hours and workload are not set by your presence at work.

The trick is to have boundaries where you say "no checking my work email today" and you just get back to people tomorrow. If you don't, you'll burn out 1/X

I wouldn't worry as much as you may be feeling. Not to dismiss you, but we've seen what porn art the plagarism machines can pump out and what the chat bots do unbound. And the response is generally been people begging for AI porn to be removed from porn sites as they are clutter.

The DSM did have sex addiction (and porn was roped in) in 1987, to be clear, but removed it in 2000 citing lack of evidence. 2013 had a push to include it that failed. 2022 didn't have any push to include.

Funny enough, I just got into this today. Apparently, the psychiatric community does not recongized porn addiction. The WHO does recongize a broad category of sexual disorders that can include it but it requires harm to occur to ones self or others. The other removed it in 2000 for lack of evidence.

Trust me when I say that we can ALWAYS use another. I spent 3 years designing and playtesting mine because there was a lack of games in the genre. That has been approved slowly. But, we can always use more, for sure. Especially some never ended coming out.
