A good start but more needs to be done. The vet industry equates to a complete racket - massively stressful for people, particularly in context of cost of living pressures, and also putting animals at risk as owners despair at their £ capacity to help them.

Anxiety about unpredictable hours isn’t just limited to people working very few hours.

Around a quarter of workers on 16-25 hours a week report being either ‘very’ or ‘fairly’ anxious about unexpected changes to hours worked.

2025-10-14: Mental Health Bill Report Stage: Amendment 41

The 164 MPs voting 'Aye' represented 10,293,880 voters.
The 331 MPs voting 'No' represented 9,336,985 voters.

Aye majority = 956,895

But result was No because seats don't match votes. See ALT text and 🧵
This chart is a proportional recount of a vote in the House of Commons.

The top two bars show the number of MPs from each party who voted Aye or No in the division.

The bottom two bars show the number of voters those MPs represent. For example, if a party won two million votes in the general election and half of that party's MPs voted in the division, that would represent one million voters.

In many cases, more voters are represented by the MPs on the losing side. This is because seats don't match votes with First Past the Post (FPTP). Recounts are shown in terms of ideal MPs who all represent the same number of people.

The method is not a simulation of a PR elected Commons. It is intended to highlight the distortion of FPTP.

It’s funny how black people are expected to reach across the aisle to voters like these, while no one ever expects them to reach across the aisle to black people. Amazing who gets to be human, and who doesn’t.

POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

We have the power to stop him interfering in our politics - we just need to do it.

I'm all for 3.5 million trickling down to Mr Clarke. Maybe Chairman Osborne, himself, could have a quick rummage behind the sofa (although, god knows, he's never come across as the cultured type).
