I was thinking about that because it's the final episode of WTF today with Obama. I was prepared to get choked up about the end of an era but I guess not. You won't be surprised to hear it's an hour of his usual "come together despite our differences" shit and Maron saying "right, right."

Even when things are as cruel + stupid as they are now, there's cold comfort in putting the bulk of responsibility on the minority of people in power, remaining empathetic about the majority of people, and continuing to holler about consequences for the stupidity + cruelty of delusional partisans.

The difference between liberalism, conspiracy theory, and parapolitics is the first two require faith. The first two reward that faith with heroes, villains, and a linear narrative. Parapolitics doesn't have heroes, but even a convoluted critique of power can work as an antidote for misanthropy.
