It seems designers had a much sharper sense of humour back in the 1950. What a bottle for a perfume named “Sport”! (Also, this is possible an official collaboration between Schiaparelli and the champagne maker Mumm?) #fragrance

Niche perfume is big business. Memo has been a fragrance juggernaut for a while. So I guess replacing the founder with former L’Oréal executive as CEO is only logical. I wonder what happens with the Molloys (the founders). Will they still be involved?

From distribution deals that open new markets to closed previews of next year’s perfumes and te following year’s prototypes, most of the important decision are made here. Plus, meetings with sea view and oysters for lunch guarantee that the whole thing feels like a vacation.
Wrapped up the TFWA week in Cannes. For the uninitiated- it’s the most important niche perfume event of the year. 5 days when everybody who has anything to say in the scent world descends on the Croisette boulevard to shape the next year in fragrance.

My colleague @jedwrdmoreno.bsky.social is covering the hell out of the whole GLP-1 (Ozempic, etc) industry. He built this super interesting tracker to keep up with all the different drugs, their regulatory status and the results from their trials.

Corpse plants put vast amounts of energy into the show, producing large flowers that can weigh more than 100 pounds. The plants heat themselves up using a biochemical process known as thermogenesis to enhance emissions of organic compounds that attract insects.

How a corpse plant makes its terrible smell − it has a strategy, and its female flowers do most of the work
When a corpse flower bloomed on campus, atmospheric scientists got to work. What they discovered provides new evidence about the unique pollination strategies of a very unusual flower.

We can now consider this speech Emmy-winning.

If you follow the perfume world - Creed is kinda a big deal, and they have a new fragrance. It’s made for the Bro demographic and thus ticks all the right boxes, yet it’s been outdated the moment it was released, because its target audience is already moving on

The aroma of the freshly picked plums is incredible - fruity, tart, acidic, leathery, bright and mouthwatering. Pure fall bliss.
The whole “anthroposophic” industry is clearly a lot of bs that fuels and funds all sorts of conspiracy theories and disinformation, but this puts it in a whole new light. Turns out the founders were best pals with OG nazis. Never liked Weleda & DrHauschka beauty

BREAKING: ICE is sending Russian dissidents back to Russia. When the dissidents arrived in Russia, the Russian authorities were given documents relating to their asylum applications in the US which under US law are confidential. This seems to be part of a secret agreement between Trump and Putin.

A remarkable person gone. A great obituary by NYT (gift article). An Armani suit, for a time, was the default uniform of authority, an occupational armor rendered in crepe or cashmere and cast in a somber palette from which the designer would seldom stray.

Gift article that sums up why I haven’t held a fashion magazine in my hands for years. They stopped being a point of view offered by cool people and became brand ads you have to pay for to see. Still a good read. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/02/s... #vogue #style #culture anna wintour Chloe Malle
