It was the best when people first got a Kinect and had voice chat come out of their TV speakers so you could yell "XBOX, OFF" on mic

We're a bit late to the party, but Data Crystal turned 20 years old last month! That's... old.

DC is the sister wiki to TCRF, focused on reverse engineering, datamining, and documentation; stuff useful for ROM hacks and fan translations.

D (Sega Saturn).

Not sure why I hated it. Maybe just too slow and ugly, especially when compared to snappy PC point-and-click games. It's weird to me that it came out the same year as Phantasmagoria (which I liked).
Ultrasonic bath to decrust vias maybe? Seems to be a big problem for Duos
Most definitions specify console-only, like you mentioned (unlicensed). I'd say shareware if it was free. Otherwise, I'd think of it more as indie, but that's a relatively new term. Not sure what an equivalent would have been back then
For my LG A2, it was under Settings > General > External Devices > HDMI Settings. Don't be a 🤡 like me, enable it!
PSA for those with a RetroTink 4K: Make sure you have 4:4:4 Pass Through enabled on your TV. I didn't realize that masks were totally jacked up by not having it on, they're 100x better now!
LG TV settings that say "4:4:4 Pass Through"

New blog post! A look at the region converter hidden in some early NES games, an analysis of an NES epoxy blob cart, and an attempt to repair a broken Famicom cartridge. A bit disconnected but I hope you enjoy! nicole.express/2025/not-jus...
Cartridge Chaos: The Official Nintendo Region Converter and More!
This post is a combination of looks at several oddities among my pile of NES and Famicom cartridges. Why, for example, do I have a copy of Gyromite when I do...

Does anyone recognize this song? It kept showing up in my dreams this past night, right before I'd wake with cold sweats.
It would crash my machine whenever I tried to transcribe it.

While I wrote it, I couldn't stop crying. I have no idea why, tears would begin rolling whenever I hear the song.

The user Vague Rant just shared a patch for "Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue!" on the SEGA Dreamcast to fix its awful analog controls once and for all!

I gave it a quick test on real hardware and boy oh boy, is it a massive improvement.

I welcome a reddit alternative. It'll be interesting to see how it goes
(1/4) I'm soft launching nooki.me to get some early traction and feedback on what to improve. Excited to see how this platform grows!
I saw heavy traffic from China/Singapore this month, so I added background browser challenges against those countries (fails fall back to a CAPTCHA). Below shows how many attempted connections from CN/SG in ~12 hours after adding it. Only 45 connections actually were real users.
A graph showing 152k connections being blocked.
Often times, they are unthrottled and will absolutely DDoS your site by network connections or CPU/RAM usage. Or worse if you pay by usage, they can drive up your bills like crazy.
Site administration has really changed in the last couple years into a cat-and-mouse game with AI scrapers sucking up resources. Even though most big companies will respect a robots.txt telling not to scrape, there's 1000 other smaller services and individual people scraping.

A REQUEST: If you own a French CD-ROM computer game called "Pop Anim'", please let me know. I could use it for some research but haven't been able to find a circulating copy yet. (It's at the BnF but I can't get there right now.)

Weirdly, the PAL and NTSC-U versions of "Bangai-O" had their brightness turned down, something fans have lamented for years.

Now, thanks to Vague Rant, you can enjoy the correct colors with the PAL, NTSC-U, and even VGA-patched NTSC-U versions!

I believe they were part of a research study years back in Missouri. I don't have their direct contact to get more info as they are my great uncle and I only see them like once every few years.

Just looking, the Focused Ultrasound Foundation has a treatment locator, maybe that'd help?
