Isn’t this a big win for the French socialists?

Right I’ll read a few more pages of Satantango to cheer myself up 💀

Always been curious as to how much the ‘Boriswave’ added to headline gdp growth during those immediate(ish) post Brexit years.
columnist.bsky.social
It is very curious that there is no UK political party that wants to prioritise economic growth - perhaps this will be a problem who can tell…

I've said it before and I'll say it again, the Conservative criticism of Labour I absolutely did not give enough intellectual houseroom to pre-election was 'none of these guys have ever created a job'.

Headlines going to the English requirements but I'd completely missed this part of the plans, yet another act of idiotic self harm. Completely incompatible with the government's stated aims on housebuilding, growth, etc.

Great opportunity here for a Conservative opposition wait what

I always find it weirdly confusing that there isn’t an inner Paris and a greater Paris vs IdF. IdF functions as greater London (eg transport links) but it really isn’t greater Paris.

Oooh a rare disagree

So…I guess I mean that the LLMs are intrinsically social (chat etc) and the idea I have in mind is not just writing tweets (agreed) but acting as bespoke curators of an individual’s TM. Basically, ‘the algorithm’ but ‘your’ algorithm.

Open world NPCs AI powered. Especially for historical re-enactments where there’s lots of data.

we've also done research on this! Functional use cases - IT, cybesecurity etc are delivering more value than content, marketing etc. www.infosys.com/iki/research...

Makes huge sense. Also I really do think social media…it is a deliberately social product.

Ah well — here’s my list on practical and valuable potential AI benefits.

(In no particular answer)

1. Coding
2. Corporate data management
3. General information searching and collation
4. Social media
5. Gaming

You might even want to put the ‘old business’ into some sort of IT run off.
columnist.bsky.social
In previous life I had a bit of experience of this. It may be that the companies best able to accrue the productivity gains are new companies (ie not burdened with systems / data archaeological strata).
columnist.bsky.social
Writ large - lousy or mediocre data - before we even get to the way in which the algorithm works is one of the reasons why AI is quite limited.
columnist.bsky.social
A related but more generous point is a key reason why AI fails in corporate settings is because the underlying datasets are lousy. If the new technology forces everyone to rationalize / clean up etc their IT systems then that would be v important.

what writer got things the most correct 10 years ago? did anyone call article 1 being dead letter? what about the way the tech industry has evolved? who, if anyone, got the shape of it in 2015?
columnist.bsky.social
It really is. The last paragraph is 🔥
The point here is that the gains from productivity (if there are any) are by no means evenly distributed. That, of course, is not news but in this particular context it feels very relevant.

Excellent column this by @sarahoconnorft.ft.com on the investors betting on a new age of leisure spending, ushered in by AI - and what they might be missing. (Also featuring a great coinage “workslop”)
Are we about to enter an age of leisure? Don’t bet on it
Productivity gains won’t necessarily translate into the embrace of free time — especially in America
