I’ve just never seen anything like that. The irony is that Wink is an NFL guy and NFL Ds hardly rotate. And there isn’t much need to in CFB anymore with the number of snaps so much lower. That is truly inane decision making.

Was totally wrong about this. They’re just doing shit like hockey subbing their whole DL in the middle of drives as part of an effort to make sure their worst players play a lot?

The starting DL was on the field for that one. So seems plausible there was some kind of 1H penalty for some guys.

They’ve been doing it all year and nobody has said anything about it inside the program that I know about.

Malpractice that Bowles would play in a huge game like this that early. Has busted a ton in limited snaps.

Like, this is a pretty remarkable disconnect, right? The LBs have not looked good under BJM and they were obviously better under every previous LB coach going back a long time now.

He still emphasizes disguise way too much, gets stuck in odd way too much, pressures too much. There are DC specific issues.

They also run a metric shit ton of Tampa and run it like crap consistently. Problems are deeper than play calling and just DC

This is not a defense of Wink. To me this makes it much worse and goes to what we saw last year as well. Players with established baselines looking worse.

Have to wonder how practice is structured and what kind of attention they pay to reps.

It’s a Sherrone thing too. This was there last year.

Yeah if they get pure dropback or a zone run vs their QQH, it usually looks good. Gap run, screen, PAP, etc it looks gnarly.

And Wink has actually simplified the back end a lot, FZ, FZ Palms, and QQH is prob like 70-80% of their calls? But they have no idea how the front end fits w the back end.

Yeah they have deeper coaching issues in that side of the ball unfortunately (not absolving Wink, but they aren’t even executing their most common calls well!)

Minter’s primary third down package was a 0 blitz with 2 rats and then Tampa off that.

He could coach that stuff. Wink can’t.

They don’t do the basics so ofc they can’t do the advance stuff.
