Wow....probably the dumbest article ever written by climate deniers....Canadian 'news' space ( you can lie if it's labeled 'opinion') written ( bought ?) by the Heartland Institute, Friends of Science and a handful of oil industry front groups...sickening.

..progress was more than countered by rising emissions from oil and gas, particularly oil sands production

Why I got arrested in 2018 breaking the injunction on TMX - it facilitates increased oil production preventing meeting climate targets. It was clear then

Might improve the journalism to mention the phase down of oil, coal and gas called for by the science and the consequences of missing targets...and maybe that 'Energy for a Secure Future' is just more fossil industry propaganda...

“Helsinki has not recorded a single traffic fatality in the past 12 months, city and police officials confirmed this week.”

City engineer credits lower speed limits and smart design.

I agree. #Helsinki #VisionZero
Helsinki goes a full year without a traffic death
A city traffic engineer credits the success to lower speed limits and smarter design.

It is endlessly hilarious to me that the 5 denier scientists they are able to dig up for this ... are the same 5 denier scientists they were able to dig up 10 years ago, and 20 years ago.

One might ask why no new scientists are joining this faction. Must be the global conspiracy.

And here's Elon's Grok on the new climate denialist EPA screed:
Context and ControversyThe report was developed to support the EPA’s July 29, 2025, proposal to rescind the 2009 Endangerment Finding, which declared GHGs a public health threat under the Clean Air Act. This finding underpins federal regulations on emissions from vehicles, power plants, and industry. The DOE report aligns with the Trump administration’s push for “energy dominance” and deregulation, arguing that the costs of climate policies are not justified by their limited global impact.Critics, including climate scientists and environmental groups, have sharply rebuked the report:Scientific Credibility: The authors, while credentialed, include known skeptics of mainstream climate science (e.g., Christy, Curry, Spencer). Critics argue the report cherry-picks data and ignores the broader consensus, such as the IPCC’s Sixth Assessment, which projects significant warming (2.1–3.5°C by 2100 under current policies) and worsening extreme weather. For example, the IPCC and NOAA data contradict the report’s claim about extreme weather, showing increased hurricane intensity and heatwave frequency tied to warming.
Timing and Intent: The report’s release alongside the EPA’s proposal is seen as a political move to justify dismantling climate regulations. Posts on X, like one from @ChrisGloninger
, call it “riddled with scientific distortions,” while others, like @wattsupwiththat
, hail it as a “watershed moment” for challenging climate alarmism. This polarization reflects the report’s divisive reception.
Global Context: The report’s focus on U.S.-centric impacts is criticized for ignoring global consequences, where U.S. emissions (25% of global GHGs from fossil fuel EGUs in 2021) play a significant role. Critics argue that downplaying domestic action undermines international efforts under agreements like the Paris Accord.

Sadly, the Carney gvt seems to be going in precisely the opposite direction – implementing tax policies that disproportionately benefit the rich, leading to huge spending cuts.

Is this govt about "building" or austerity?

Currently, Carney is sending very mixed signals 2 cabinet ministers & public

BC's Premier just announced $200M for transmission and compressors to electrify the Cedar LNG terminal. The fed govt also announced $200M in March. Here's the thing: Cedar LNG was approved 2 yrs ago conditional on electrification and its investors gave it a go-ahead 1 yr ago. Why do they need tax $?
