Today I am starting a thread of my Top 25 Exploitation Films. I am going to try and cover a decent range of sub-genres and pick films I think are the best examples of those sub-genres. I will be going from 25 to 1 and I will update it daily. Thread starts below. 🎥 #Filmsky

Now rewatching Night of the Living Dead (1990, USA) - Tom Savini 📽️ #Filmsky
Poster for Night of the Living Dead. Zombies stumble away from us and up towards a house on top of a hill.

All I remember is converse trainers being very prominent

Yeah another film where the vibes are so good that I can overlook some of the issues it has. Similar kind of sexy noir sorta vibes as well.

Yeah I think in the areas where it's strong it's really strong. It's a little sexy, dangerous and moody. And sometimes I think the cheese works in the films favour.

I am not a die hard fan of it but the vibes are awesome. I love the city, it's one of my favourite "the city is a main character" type of films in that very particular regard.

I've been using Tidal and I have had no complaints so far, I think they're doing a nice trial deal atm as well

Now watching Shaft in Africa (1973, USA) - John Guillermin 📽️ #Filmsky
Poster for Shaft in Africa. Shaft swinging a large wooden club, behind him scenes of action and the cast of characters, all against a white background. The tag line reads "THE Brother Man in the Motherland. Shaft is stickin' it ...all the way."

Yeah that's the thing. It's obviously very sensitive subject matter and I do not blame anyone for having a visceral reaction but I think one of the strengths of the film is how it uses more subtle film making approaches to get under the skin. It is not torture porn by any measure.

Yes she is incredible. I think the three main performances are excellent. Stephen Curry gives one of the most pathetically vile performances I've seen. It's so well shot, and I think it manages to avoid feeling exploitative.

The facts are there for you to inform yourself, I have no desire to help you not be pig ignorant and I do not give a single shit if you block me.
cineblah.bsky.social
That you're willingly embracing ignorance is no one's issue but yours.
cineblah.bsky.social
Instead of shitting his pants repeatedly he could have taken this time to get more informed, oh well!
cineblah.bsky.social
You're seriously embarrassing yourself, you don't have to do this.
cineblah.bsky.social
He definitely isn't angry though! He is just shouting and insulting people because he is very calm.
cineblah.bsky.social
It's so cute how you're insisting you're not angry while swearing and screaming at people because they know more than you do. You don't have to be so impotent and ignorant you know?

Fantastic film this one. Heavy mind.

65) Hounds of Love (2016, dir. Ben Young.) #Filmsky 📽️
Poster for Hounds of Love. The poster shows a white woman in her early 20s (Ashleigh Cummings), with long darkish hair. She is standing in the corner of a room with old-fashioned patterned wallpaper, learning against the wall with the side of her face pressed against it. She looks scared or traumatised. The poster is coloured entirely in shades of red.

You're quite clearly angry, my dear boy. And this has been reported on many times, you can find them yourself, it's not my job to help you stop embarrassing yourself.

Haha no it's not. That is very funny though
