Folks should learn more about Group Policy Editor, Task Scheduler, Services, and Registry. Even if it's situational, like how do I disable x, you can do a lot. Automatic updates set to notify, not install, in the GPE. Task Scheduler lets you switch off a lot of shit that silently kicks off. Etc.
This is the future of Windows. Microsoft wants to rewrite Windows to turn computers into AI PCs that you talk to. It's now bringing AI features to all Windows 11 PCs today, in a bid to convince you to talk to your PC and let AI control it. Full details 👇 www.theverge.com/news/799768/...

ABOLISH ICE and EXPAND THE SUPREME COURT should be mainstream Democratic promises and talking points.

But timidity and civility will rule the day and screw the rest of us and this country in the end.

My discussion of everything right now
It's a method. It's not new. Fascists have been using it for over 100 years.

The difference between this behavior and satire is that the point of satire is to make fun of the ignorant belief.

The point of this behavior is to repeat the ignorant belief and then make fun of people who don't like the ignorant belief, for "falling" for the shtick.

"I say ignorant things as satire" is the kind of poster I never understand.

"Oooh I made people mad with my ignorance but I'm only ~~pretending~~ so I got you!"

congrats. you successfully emulated the least creative people in the universe. clap clap.

everyone needs to internalize that this is just how all republicans are and when nancy pelosi said "the country needs a strong republican party" she meant that more people like this should be powerful. they are all like this! they all think just like this and like trump and they love it and it's fun
POLITICO: “.. They referred to Black people as monkeys and ‘the watermelon people’ and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies .. and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

As I read this, I keep thinking over and over again about the two major groups I see in politics and policy spaces: folks who take opinion polls as gospel and folks who see them as indicators of what people believe at the moment that can be *shaped* into something else.
we’ll see how his mayoral tenure shakes out but i am convinced that Mamdani has the juice. not just the charisma to win an election but the temperament to govern and the measured pragmatism of someone who genuinely believes what they’re saying and wants to accomplish real things.

You know how when you scribble a bunch of crayons of different colors together it ends up being a gross babyshit color?

Yeah, that’s what AI “art” does, because it’s mashing together millions of different sources to fill in the Mad Libs blank.
yeah, and what's up with that brown color anyway?

The Regime's goal is to grind everyone down. Plain & simple. Our goal is to refuse this by taking turns to fight where and how we can. When one group needs to bow out, then another group needs to step in and so on. We don't all have to do everything. We can all do something though. Stay in the fight

What I learned from Miss Major was persistence and also keeping a sense of humor. I was lucky to see her work in various organizing meetings over the years. She was a model of how to be a good elder. Truly grateful for everything she did to make the world better. Time for the rest of us to continue.

I don't know how many times to point out that is absolutely ghoulish and non-consensual and disgusting behavior.
To exploit the image of a dead woman who was also exploited in real life so you can live out your momentary fantasies of "what is possible" with AI is bad science journalism, also.
Sick.

Marilyn Monroe in Game of Thrones? AI Could Make It Happen Soon

Despite early, and familiar, copyright growing pains, Sora may be the prelude to AI-generated on-demand TV and movies

Screenshot includes an AI generated image of what looks like a human cross between Daenaerys Targaryen and Marilyn Monroe on the back of a dragon.

I might not find some political activism that compelling but I try to keep in mind Kwame Ture's point:

"You don't criticize somebody who's doing something when you doing nothing."

I hope this ceasefire holds & I am glad the hostages are free, but this is Trump’s *actual record* so far.
Just in case the dramatically low Leni Riefenstahl-style angle was too subtle, they used a word from her most famous movie

the actual story here, which the media never talks about, is that police in this country have become a discrete right-wing political operation. the story isn't about cops leaving (they're lying about that), it's about the police trying to exert influence over elections.
Lmao is this supposed to be a bad thing?
A tweet from Bari Weiss that says “"It's shaken me to my core," a lieutenant said of Mamdani's unexpected victory in June. "The absolute dread I feel is palpable.

A mistake to see the Republican majorities in Congress as “abdicating.” They want the same things, the same substantive political agenda, as the executive and their acquiescence to the president’s leadership is a form of _action_, not passivity
Per WSJ, the Trump regime and Bannon are bragging they’re “ruling Congress with an iron fist” and that it is “largely ceremonial” like the Russian Duma.

Shameful. Not what the founders intended. 🇺🇸 @MarshaBlackburn @RepTimBurchett @AndyOgles

Most of these people are deeply trained, or at least highly educated, in humanities. Knowing isn’t being.
Anyone who claims that Silicon Valley would be better with more humanities education has to grapple with the fact that Peter Thiel was a philosophy major.
