Surprisingly we still have bird flu surveillance. That should tell you something. Risk to the public still remains low but if you have a backyard flock, cats, or hunt you need to be cautious.

Fall doesn’t just bring respiratory viruses for humans; it also brings them for animals. After a relatively quiet spring and summer, our old friend H5N1 (bird flu) is back. USDA has seen an uptick in H5N1 detections in backyard flocks, commercial flocks, and wild birds. More than 4.4 million birds have been sick in the past month. This isn’t enough to impact egg prices yet, but it may soon.

It’s telling that the cover of the album isn’t a picture of D’Angelo himself. It’s a scanned frame of 16mm footage filmed at the Afropunk Festival in 2014 that pictures the crowd raising their hands in protest at the killing of Michael Brown.

What D’Angelo said Black Messiah means. It came out at the end of 2014 and it was so needed.

Article (Nolan Feeney; TIME) excerpt reads: “Black Messiah is a hell of a name for an album. It can be misunderstood. Many will think it's about religion. Some will jump to the conclusion that I'm calling myself a Black Messiah. For me, the title is about all of us. It's about the world. It's about an idea we can all aspire to.
