So glad my city (Indianapolis, IN) has been investing in safe, connected bike routes and bus rapid transit routes over the past decade+. Being car-free since 2010 makes my budget so much less stressful.

Who's out there choosing wage slavery to the auto industry overlords selling over powered, bloated SUVs & vanity trucks?

“Once rare, 7-year car loans are fast becoming the norm. They’re often the only way buyers can afford new rides, with average sale prices surging 28% in 5 years to approach $50k.”

Designed-in car dependency, surging car prices, longer loan periods with more interest.

Sound like “freedom” to you?
Cars are so expensive that buyers need 7-year loans

This is a good reason for Indy folks to get that rooftop solar right now!

Google Maps is like, "Hey folks on bikes, here's where you go to die."
cherolis.bsky.social
Agreed. GoogleMaps is wrong about a lot of bike infra in Indy. Don't use it for mapping your bike route or you'll end up on a death road, where the bike lane doesn't actually exist.

We've documented how terribly wrong Google Maps is on Indy Bike Routes. Don't use it.

I use Ride With GPS.

Hmm. When I visited, and rode their transit, we noticed:

(1) Easy to get tickets, even for tourists
(2) Subway and bus system makes sense and gets you where you need to go.
(3) Clean stations, felt safe the entire time
(4) Limited car parking, making transit the better option

I tested it twice. As a white guy on a bike and then as a group of three white guys on bikes. No one said anything to us.

That cluster-fock format was destined to highlight loud angry people. I'm glad I left early to watch a tragicomedy under the stars.

This is a thought I will treasure. Not sure if AI or humans will destroy humanity first, maybe a tag team effort.

Blumy doesn't have room for that strategy in his establishment Dem old head.

This is disheartening. Local leaders would love to improve both transportation system and gun safety in Indy - but rural Indiana state leaders won't have it.

Ain't it wild? No benches. Very few trees. Uninterupted center turn lane with no center median for crossing pedestrians or center of street shade trees.

There's a BRVA master plan meeting on Tues, Oct 7th, at the Broad Ripple Arts Center, 6:30 pm. We need more good folks there to say WTF?

Can you believe this is my day job? Bikes and awesome rides. mailchi.mp/centralincyc...

When I heard it had to do with food delivery, a bike lane, and stabbing - I instantly started thinking bike delivery and, "Who did this dude eff with?"

But that's not what happened.

OY!

Ugh. This guy is repulsive.
Collage of photos of a total enema bag that spouts feces and is disgusting.

We've got a lot of people that need to ride for jobs access and mobility, but only certain portions of the city are safely accessible. With inflation of auto prices and additional inflation pressure on family budgets (incl higher transit fare), more folks will be biking in Indy.

Loving that air quality.

CTFastrak is pretty amazing.

Zoning in Newington, CT is not. They have two stations with zero transit oriented development.

Have fun!

I do miss how easy it was to get from city to city in the Northeast and East Coast by rail.
