It's hard to feel hopeful about us defeating fascism when a bunch of liberals with large accounts on this site waste time punching down on disabled folks, minimizing Covid & chronic illness.

Fascism starts with normalizing eugenics

Right? I'm the extreme one? These grown men are having meltdowns

Thanks for chiming in. I always love your threads!

I’m sorry that THE SITUATION feels unreasonable. It’s fair to say that the situation is unmanageable, a situation that all the ppl who already have contracted long covid and who can’t afford more infections have been thrust into. That is something to take up with the govt - a reason to be furious

“Doing what you can to avoid spreading it to other people” is masking , until we have clean air - and in the meantime , you all need to be advocating for clean air, which none of you are showing the urgency around when you fail to mask.
40%+ of Covid cases are asymp and Covid disables people

Does privilege do this to your brain? Folks are pretending that being asked to mask is the most oppressive thing to ever exist and I'd like to know why. Selfishness? Privilege? You weren't raised right? What is it? What about masking is "unreasonable"?
jamellebouie.net
yeah, i think a commitment to public health obligates you to get vaccinated and, when you are sick, do what you can to avoid spreading that to other people. the demand that one mask at all times in public spaces is, i think, unreasonable.

People are VERY huffy and stompy about this post but just as an inside opinion from someone in LC community, It’s hard to believe there is solidarity with the disabled and high risk people who need to avoid covid when our one primary ask is met with accusations that, hey, maybe we’re just CRAZY?
chantzy.bsky.social
Dear liberals,

If you identify as a leftist who believes in intersectional justice & fighting fascism, please wear a mask in public. It’s one small act of solidarity with the millions living with long Covid - and a reminder that caring for others includes protecting their health
chantzy.bsky.social
These folks are so exhausting. Do they realize we can vaccinate AND wear masks?

Really curious how ignoring thousands of studies is "denying science" - feel free to share the science that says it's OK to keep getting this virus.

Or stay in your lane?
saltlick.bsky.social
Covid Forever deadenders are an ignorable little sect. In their own way, they deny science just as much as the right does.
joadsprocket.bsky.social
I am not interested in living in a society of Universal Public Masking and neither are most people. This ask is not reasonable, and the invocation of solidarity in service of it is ridiculous.

Curious what data you are using to make your rational assessment of the threat environment, because all of the actual scientific data shows that this SARS virus remains extremely dangerous to every organ system in the body, regardless of vac status, and more than 50% of spread is asymptomatic.

It's so tiring to see the amount of hubris from people who haven't read an updated study on the harms of sars-CoV2 in 3 years
chantzy.bsky.social
Oh look. He removed his post. Touché

It was @joadsprocket.bsky.social in case you'd like to block him

1. We haven't come out the other end of Covid
2. I've never called for everyone masking every time they leave the house. I've called for more allies to mask in essential public spaces in solidarity with long COVID sufferers
3. Masks are *not* just for those who are sick

..mandates should be established. I am also honestly aghast at the fact hat you have an extremist government taking public health apart (with ongoing high circulation of COVID, ongoing measles outbreaks and the risk of H5N1) and you chose to criticize people concerned about airborne infections.

(things said by people who have not undertaken a rational assessment of the threat environment since 2021)

I wish liberal covid deniers would actually engage with the piles of evidence on the continued danger of covid, rather than deeming everyone who has insane.

Microplastics are released from plastic when exposed to heat, including leaching from tea bags into hot tea and plastic containers releasing nanoplastics when microwaved. While health effects are still unclear, minimizing heating plastic is a simple way to reduce exposure.
Microplastics are everywhere. You can do one simple thing to avoid them.
The biggest sources of microplastics have one thing in common: Heat.

Liberals clutching their pearls on this site when told that not masking to protect others in essential public spaces is ableist. Instead of getting angry, they should reflect on how they can do better

100% it's worth considering complaining to the NYT
chantzy.bsky.social
Oh look, a columnist for the NYT telling me that masking in public stems from fear instead of rational assessment of the threat

Nothing to see here

Thankful for heated outdoor patios with gorgeous views of the Vancouver skyline 💜

Look, if you don't want to mask in public, that's your deal.
My point is don't call yourself a leftist & pretend to care about disability justice
