Heard about this earlier, and my jaw didn’t drop. You know who else isn’t surprised? Pretty much every Republican.

As someone who’s been a frequent target, none of this shocks me. I don’t expect real consequences from the right because I doubt today is the first day they heard about it.

All of the Israelis held by Hamas are called “hostages,” including the IDF soliders.

All the Palestinians released, though, are “prisoners,” including the many victims of Israel’s widespread arbitrary detention - meaning they are legally innocent, detained without charge or conviction.

Disgusting.

Lots of people spreading disinformation today that there’s some nefarious reason no female hostages were released.

It’s literally just because women, child n and men over 50 were released under a previous ceasefire deal.

CNN World article excerpt reads: “The hostages who are believed to be alive are all men and all but one are in their 20s and 30s. Women, children and men over the age of 50 were released under previous ceasefire agreements.”

Shameful that @mark-carney.bsky.social omitted any mention of the nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners also being released, and their families. Nor did he acknowledge that there about 8,000 more who are still imprisoned - many of them civilians with no charges against them.
