OFMD WHUMPTOBER: EVENT INFO & RULES

OFMD Whumptober is a month long prompt based event for October 2025. Each day will have a different set of whump focused prompts for your inspiration and creation! All forms of creation are encouraged - Fic, Art, Edits, Media; whatever floats your ship. This is an event for all of OFMD, no specific characters or ships - so have fun with it!

There are three to five prompts for each day, including physical whump, mental whump, dialogue prompts and a few general tags. Not one day is the same! There will also be a list of “Alt” prompts that you can use for inspiration on any day! You don’t have to use every prompt in list - use one, use them all, use a few, it’s up to you and what fits best! Same goes with participation: if you participate for one day, or you participate for every day, you’re still a valid participant!

Have a prompt you want included? Navigate to the NGL linked below and fill it up with tags! Don’t have NGL? Just DM @ofmdwhump and I’ll stick your prompts on the list! Deadline for getting prompts in is Monday August 18!

If you are creating media to post publicly, PLEASE TAG YOUR WORKS! This is an event that deals with heavy topics that could be triggering or squicks for some. Don’t be afraid to “over-tag”. started writing this last night for whumptober day 15 (oops) but okayy stede stuck to the mast angst!!!!

Your first mate doesn’t care. Blackbeard doesn’t care. He hasn’t even come up to check on you. He’s probably happy you died. He was going to kill you before.

“Ed would never," Stede mutters, under his breath. The words feel stuck; muddy. “Ed would never.” He tries again, but his words get caught on a sob.

He never realizes it before he gets too far gone— the drifty, rampant feeling. It washes over him, shrinking him as it travels from his head to his toes. He hates it. The way it makes him feel like the floor’s dropped out from under him makes him cry ten times harder.

“Ed—” he manages, again. He only met this guy a week ago. Why does he feel the need to need him. “Ed, Ed—”

Stede walks Ed back to his quarters, Ed's arm slung over his shoulders. He can feel the heat radiating off of him, can smell the deep warmth of his jacket and his skin.
They don't talk much as they walk. Ed had laughed when Stede stabbed him, had coached him through pulling the sword free, and then he'd gone silent. Stede was expecting jokes, or at least reassurance that he was fine, but when Stede asked, all he got was a small, tight nod.
The silence is companionable, at least. Stede isn't going to break it.
