You could add all the protected, dedicated bike lanes in the city. It would only take a minute!
I can see my house from here! What will you be using it for?
That's sparse. People lucky enough to live on a multi-user path have a few routes to get places but those aren't ideal because of pedestrian-cyclist conflicts. The uptake is mostly recreational on those MUPs, it seems + a handful of parent with cargo bikes on school runs. No real network, though.
Will council be pushing staff to develop this network any time soon? Because, honestly, I'm just about done with the city promoting active travel while I'm being bullied by drivers just for trying to ride my bike to work and for errands. And we wonder why there's no significant uptake in cycling.
Is that it? No protected bike lanes West of Lonsdale? No safety improvements for active transport to Jones during the repaving currently underway? All we have are sharrows and no protection from drivers. If we don't advance on this, I worry that I'll have to quit riding or become a statistic.
The ghosts' head seems to be a bit...off.
It just showed up some time yesterday before my commute home. Wasn't there in the morning but was in the afternoon when I passed just after 2pm.
What we need are real changes to protect people outside of cars. There isn't a single safe route for me to get to the Spirit Trail and onto the Lions Gate Bridge. Every day involves a conflict with a driver. The city has no engagement whatsoever on Bluesky. May as well be yelling into the wind.
I've had many conversation with other bike riders at this intersection while we wait for the lights to change and they've all had horrifying experiences at this intersection. It's especially bad crossing southbound because the drivers turning left are coming from behind, forcing you to look back.
I'm just so fed up with the inaction in this city.
With Montague out, does this mean we can close vehicular access to/from Stanley Park via the causeway now, since he'll no longer need his personal shortcut to City Hall from the North Shore?
Brian Montague, who bluntly has appeared to enjoy being a councillor less than any councillor I’ve ever covered, has announced he won’t be running for re-election
Vancouver councillor defends attendance record after selling local home, buying property in Okanagan
No. And I doubt that would stop drivers from ignoring pedestrians and people on bikes in the crossing. The cars turning left from Bewick have an advance signal before our walk signal comes on. I have several LPI's around my house and drivers ignore them, so I'm not a fan of them.
It seems there might be a segment of the population who don't want climate change mitigation because they're profiting handsomely from the status quo!
@tonyvalente.bsky.social @hubnorthshore.bsky.social I was nearly hit by 2 cars this morning just after 6am while crossing from the W Keith MUP to the Bewick MUP (Blue arrow) with a walk signal. Drivers (Red) turning left from Bewick not Marine just aren't paying attention. We need a separate signal!
New holiday suggestion, and I'm here for it!
My 8yo told me she had a dream that she went "taco treating," which is where you go door to door and people give you tacos
For anyone who rides up/down Pine, across the Arbutus Greenway, be advised that a power pole has been placed against the Jersey Barriers on the South side of the intersection blocking access to the Greenway (red line on photo). @lucymaloney.bsky.social who do I talk to to get this removed?

Anyone have experience with Chinese Meals on Wheels?
That’s the thing, it doesn’t take too many leaves or snow to hide hazards like a fallen tree branch or broken bottle.
These people have always been there, they just have permission to behave this way now.
