I want to share something I've worked on effectively for most of my life, in different ways.

This vision of a calmer future, and analysis of how we get there, came after working in different sectors, on different continents – and seeing how obvious solutions are not working.

Political partisanship aside, smart diplomatic analysts have said for a while that recognition of Palestine by countries like UK, France, Canada, etc. was a vital "stick" to Trump's "carrot". But to see it hinted at is remarkable. ~AA

the next real environmental sustainability challenge will be using _less_ energy when it is cheap and abundant

I'm sorry, I feel frustrated and powerless about some of this too

but I'm going to mute you now, I have limited energy to deal with things so try to focus on stuff that is productive and useful, and ignore the things I feel are really not

Musk is a sociopathic and deluded arsehole, with dangerous amounts of power and influence — I think we're agreed on that — but Twitter or Tesla didn't make him rich

(they both lose money)

focusing on the things we see, and think we can effect, is maybe comforting but isn't really changing anything

I'm a similar age to you by the way (Battle of the Planets was amazing!) and had written in the next post that I didn't have a simple solution — but maybe you hadn't read that?

and the Twitter experience outside the US and UK is slightly different, because those markets and politics simply don't matter to Musk — and there are far more pressing issues to organise about

What the Twitter takeover did so effectively was fracture the way we get our news. If, for example, I want to get in-depth updates on Sudan I still check in with Twitter as that's where a lot of the biggest accounts are. There's no one-stop shop anymore.
