NEW: “Toderian says it’s easy to be distracted by futuristic innovations like electric cars, drone delivery networks & hyperloops. ‘The real solutions are a lot less sexy and a lot more common sense… Tech won’t save us if we get the fundamentals wrong.”

I was 1 of 3 urban experts asked to weigh in.
A world without traffic? Three urban experts rethink how cities move
Gridlock is costing us billions, but bold solutions like bus-only lanes, congestion charges and flexible work hours could get cities moving again

You can be a “car guy” and not like car dependency. You can be a “car guy” and get that too many cars in cities is bad for everyone, including drivers. You can be a “car guy” and be tired of lies & manipulations like “the war on cars.” You can be a “car guy” and know more choice means more freedom.

So we take all of the land out of biofuels use, reserve 10% of it for solar to cover the ENTIRE global car fleet, take some for truck transport & some for dense housing where it's near to cities/transit, & REWILD most of the rest to forest/grassland/other, as locally appropriate.

Beautiful world.

NEW: Biofuels globally emit more than the fossil fuels they replace, our latest study shows.

The first-of-a-kind study looks at global biofuels production today and the potential impacts of government biofuel targets.

A pejorative portmanteau of street and road: an expensive, dangerous, and ugly design that tries to be both a high-speed commuter road and destination street with businesses, failing at both while being equally frustrating for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

someone in the fed gov't needs to do the math.
It's not hard. Addition/subtraction stuff.

Ann Arbor’s weather comes up constantly in discussions about bike lanes, pedestrian infrastructure, open streets, etc. As Not Just Bikes points out, cities with worse weather than us still have good infrastructure.

After all, you’re not made of sugar.

Love this video on protected bike-friendly intersections! Intersections are where most crashes happen and zebras or traffic lights alone won’t fix that. Dutch-style intersections put safety of pedestrians and cyclists first. Can’t wait to see them being built in Vienna! @martinblum.bsky.social
