But also the main message and theme of the book is what happens when you are a person in love with the art and culture of an empire that is swallowing up your own community

Ok so:

The Teixcalaan books are about language and art and beautifully written - but also there’s (almost) no in-world poetry written out while described as beautiful so you don’t get the impression of having to buy into the poetry as well which is good
