anyway sometimes I get the sensation that the south (+ Appalachia) is the only place where people think Americans can be poor, GENUINELY rural, racist, and attached to the land and its stories and myths and horrors and yet still love it to death in a visceral way and it bothers me haha

Technically not a rejection because they hadn’t seen it in time, but also yeah they weren’t about to tell someone they already accepted to get out, actually.
Good news is they discovered they had to change their spam filters and I got added to the “future consideration” pile.

Easily my funniest and yet most devastating not-a-rejection was when they emailed me after apps closed like “oh no, oh my god I am SO SORRY, your artist application went into my spam folder and I had no idea you responded to the gig, I am SO SORRY.”
