1926 Frankford was a hell of a team. 14-1-2, often playing a game on Saturday in Philly, getting on a train, and playing a game the next day on the road.

Schhhaaaaaadenfreude....

Tonight -- the last overlapping Monday Night Football doubleheader! Not just for this week, but for the foreseeable future, as there won't be any next year.

The DVOA Discord will help keep Falcons-Bills and Bears-Commanders straight one last time.

It's no Buccaneers-Seahawks, but this double-throwback Falcons-Bills game is going to look damn nice.

I do love the DVOA Discord.

At this rate, all coaches will be named Mike by 2203, unless the league expands.

That must be why they're playing more games in Europe.
brykno.bsky.social
It's increasing, too. Over 50% of Mike-coached seasons have been since 2006.

2008 also had seven Mikes, but not at the same time -- Singletary replaced Nolan.

And if you include Walt Michaels, the last period without a Mike would have been 1969-1972.

Random facts brought to you by the DVOA Discord and Mike McCoy becoming Titans interim coach:

The year with the most Mikes at head coach was 2005 (Holmgren, Martz, Mularkey, Nolan, Shanahan, Sherman, Tice).

The last gap without a Mike was 1977-79, unless you count Walt ~Michaels~.

49ers fans, pick your rooting interest carefully tonight. The Commanders say Deebo Samuel is good to go. The Bears have activated Jake Moody.

Now, which player might 49ers fans have fonder memories of...

The Titans are not beating the "unserious franchise" allegations.
brykno.bsky.social
The funniest thing about Callahan being fired might be the chance it was done so Mike Vrabel couldn't beat Their Guy, and instead would beat an interim.

In 1961, the Oilers fired Lou Rymkus four games in. Wally Lemm took over, they went 9-0, and won the AFL Championship.

So what I'm saying, is ~there's franchise precedent~
brykno.bsky.social
The last four first-pick quarterbacks have seen their head coaches fired during their rookie seasons. That's...not ideal.

Brian Callahan, fired after six weeks.

Quite possibly the worst coach in Titans/Oilers history, though there's a Mount Rushmore there with Ken Whisenhunt, Bill Peterson and Ed Biles.

Justin Fields didn't have the worst QB game ever without an interception, but it was pretty bad! Enjoy a historical list and a Guido Merkens mention, plus the best and worst players of Week 6 by DYAR.

Week 6 Quick Reads: Justin Fields Takes Sacks
Good games this week for Drake Maye, Rico Dowdle and George Pickens, and a very bad game for Justin Fields.

Indeed. Jets failing the "play better football" part of the plan ;)

A 3-1-1 team has a winning percentage of .700. A 4-2 team would have a winning percentage of .667.

Pretty sure a 4 win team would be in first over a 3 win team

A Lions loss tonight would put the Packers in first place in the NFC North, dropping the Lions to #6.

The Chiefs are still not in playoff position, no matter what happens

A good reminder today that, while Mac Jones is good for a backup...he's good for a ~backup~.

It's a dislocated ankle for Fred Warner, per reports.

Question now would be if there's a fracture, and if so, how many. Ranges from a three-month injury to a year+.
