Close-ups of the fab Grass #Snake slough (shed skin) I found in our garden last week. You can see exactly where one of the eyes was, in one of them.

@arc-trust.bsky.social (ARG UK) are asking people to send in reptile sloughs, so that's exactly what I'll do with it.

Just finished @drmjwarren.bsky.social's The Cuckoo's Lea and I absolutely LOVED it. In fact it's one of my favourite reads so far this year.

#Nature, #History, #birds, #language #landscape and more... woven together seamlessly, and so beautifully. Fascinating! I can't recommend it highly enough

Today (date), the Slender-billed Curlew was declared extinct. The first bird extinction on mainland Europe in 500 years — on our watch. Extinction is final. No going back. Think about that.

It can sometimes be difficult deciding on a print size for a friend’s wall, the right coasters for your auntie’s living room when you can’t quite remember what colour scheme they’ve gone for, or even being sure if your mum would prefer a donkey or an otter notepad! So, I thought an egift card, where they can choose from any of my products, might be a good idea (and potentially a lot less stressful if you’re not a shopping-loving person or - like me - you’re not great at decisions!)

A farmer friend gave them to Rob years ago, Cath, but you'll see loads of it lying around in fields... so worth finding out who the land belongs to and asking if you could have a sheet or two!

A Common Redstart at the #weedypond this morning.
It's rare to see to such a clear view of this beautiful bird, only here for a brief stopover, as it heads back to it's wintering location in trans-Saharan Africa.

We are so fortunate, Cath. The pond, mini-meadow, and other wild areas provide them with habitat, refuge, and prey... but of course if they weren't in the area already we wouldn't have them visiting our garden!
