Imgur is because of already existing data protection laws that they refused to follow. They pulled access from the UK to avoid being fined into oblivion.

The UK is actually one of the better countries in the Western world for this, as unlike most of Europe, we never introduced a universal ID policy, though we tried.

That's not saying much though, these polls still make me cringe.
