My main #AUSA thought comes from a research proposal I’ve been drafting. Success of post-Vietnam army often framed in relation to “The Big 5,” which obscures the fact that a complementary revolution in training was just as important.

Did people really memorize phone numbers before cell phones, or is that just a movie thing?

I was watching some old shows from the 90s and noticed people would just dial numbers from memory - like they'd call their friends or family without looking anything up.
Made me wonder if that was actually normal back then? Did people genuinely have all their important numbers memorized, or did most folks keep a little address book or written list nearby?

Great guy. All he spoke about was getting NCOs back to mastering individual and crew skills, preparing 1SGs and CSMs to one day replace him, and how being a garrison CSM helped him focus on QOL challenges

Ran into CSM Petty, the 4ID CSM. Served together in 1-21 IN in Iraq back in 2010-11. He was a 19K who went to Ranger School after being a PSG w/multiple deployments. Always respected that.

She flew him out from Riley to Carson. She was driving somewhere, told him a joke, he didn't laugh. She slammed on the brakes and began to cuss him out. Again, you could not waterboard this information out of me!

Taught a MAJ recently who several months in the course said he felt compelled to tell me that he followed me on Twitter and had dated her few years back. Surprisingly, he ghosted her after a few incidents of her flying off the handle at completely benign shit. Still, I question his judgment

Thought the suit I planned to wear to AUSA tomorrow was dry-cleaned. Found it wrinkled in my closet. Thought about grabbing another suit but remembered army Os have no idea how to dress and if they didn't have to wear AGSUs would be in khaki shorts and unit polo. Busted out the steamer. 🫡
