Minneapolis- not burning but kind of radiant
A skyline shot of downtown Minneapolis, looking up and south east.

The sky is dark and misty. Capella tower is surrounded by a halo of purple and pink lights, and Wells Fargo tower has a huge yellow glow, both mingling in the mist.

The glow in the sky is framed by strikingly dark towers and buildings that have their own rectangular windows piercing the dark.
Watching Hammie 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 heavy lean on the broom and just push himself down the ice with one foot has me wanting to get on the ice and try it myself 🥌
It seemed like their strategy in the 7th didn't serve them well
I think they still consider it home ice!

🌱 Year one and the pollinator garden is doing well, especially the liatris (prairie blazing star).
A Monarch butterfly with orange and black wings is perched on a tall stem of purple flowers, identified as Liatris ligulistylis or Meadow Blazingstar. The butterfly is feeding on the nectar from the flowers, and a bee is also visible on a lower cluster of blossoms. The background is blurred, with green foliage and brown earth.
Yeah I've noticed that with a couple of the streams, what a bummer.
There's no audio on any of the streams, btw. I don't know anything about why.
Yeah! He's been here several times this year. I've only just been following him so maybe it's normal that he's here a lot?

Holy moly #broomshakalaka
I was grumpy about the parking situation at the curling club but then a bunch of mini football players showed up to watch. 🥌
Indoor scene showing a curling rink from a club lounge. Two games are in progress on the ice, with four players actively involved, and more curling stones and brooms are stacked along the back wall. To the left, a group of people, some wearing football helmets, watch the game from a viewing area, separated by glass from the lounge area in the foreground.
This could be exciting 🥌

In addition to my work at @3downnation.bsky.social, I'm pleased to announce that I've joined The Curling Group as a reporter for Rock Channel.

I'm looking forward to working with @devinheroux.bsky.social and the many talented people in and around my favourite winter sport.
Aggressive but timely marketing
Love the origin story, feels really familiar. It's definitely the people!

A message from the SVCC Board of Directors on the issue of transgender participation in sports.
Transgender athletes are part of our club, our sport, and our community. They deserve to participate fully and authentically in curling, free from exclusion or harm. Rules that limit participation based on gender identity are damaging to those directly targeted and to our community as a whole.

The U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee has issued new guidelines restricting transgender participation, which all National Governing Bodies, including USA Curling, must follow. These directives did not originate in curling, but they affect curlers everywhere.

At Silicon Valley Curling Club, we are clear: trans athletes are welcome. We believe that people are the best curlers when they have the freedom to be their genuine selves. Furthermore, we believe that the SVCC community is better when it is representative of the communities in which we curl. We welcome and encourage people of any gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, or any group to join our activities, including leagues, bonspiels, Learn to Curls, instructional & developmental events, and more. Exclusionary language, behavior, and harassment are taken seriously at SVCC, and our members are expected to understand and follow the club's Code of Conduct.

SVCC stands in solidarity with curling clubs around the country who are committed to transgender participation in sport, and we urge curlers of all genders to add their voices of support to this cause.
