The Lake District is the perfect place to explore car-free.

Penrith Bike Hire delivers to locations within 15 miles of Penrith and even has a collection point at the station.

You can also use this journey planner designed for walkers and cyclists to help you find routes.👇

At this time of year, with UK summer weather coming to an end, many people’s thoughts turn to winter sun holidays. A favourite destination for me is #Lanzarote in the #CanaryIslands. If you are lucky enough to be going there I have some walk suggestions at www.happyhiker.co.uk/MyWalks/Lanz...

In swamps and marshes, people occasionally see mysterious blue-tinged flashes of light above water, which have commonly been associated with ghosts or spirits. Now physicists may have finally worked out what causes them.
We may finally know what causes will-o’-the-wisps
Mysterious flashes of light seen in swamps and bogs could be caused by burning methane or other gases, ignited by sparks that fly between bubbles in water
