Huh?
There is very little about this CR that I like—but there is even less I like about a government shutdown. With Trump & Musk taking a chainsaw to the government’s workforce & illegally freezing funding, the last thing we need to do is plunge our country into further chaos by shutting down the govt.

The text messages of an “extremely confident” person who is “satisfied” with bailing out Argentina:
A close-up image of Treasury Sec. Scott Bessent's phone showing text messages from Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins. The text reads, "Finally - just a heads up. I'm getting more intel, but this is highly unfortunate. We bailed out Argentina yesterday (Bessent) and in return, the Argentine's removed their export tariffs on grains, reducing their price, and sold a bunch of soybeans to China, at a time when we would normally be selling to China. Soy prices dropping further because of it. This gives China more leverage on us."

Devastating to hear about vendors taken at Swap O Rama. Back of the Yards has had no rest for weeks. Every day on assault on immigrants and anyone that is existing while Brown.
and i hesitate to give them "credit" for having any understanding of history
i think the point is that not only are these people nazis, they are also extremely sad, pathetic losers, high on a video game fantasy

According to rapid response, feds have grabbed one person from the Addison/Kimball Home Depot this morning. Several people detained in Back of the Yards as well, still all over the area. They've also returned to Carpentersville this morning, and were seen near an elementary school there.

Yesterday was the Q3 FEC deadline. That means we found out how much money my opponents raised and who donated to them.

So how did we do? Well…

Where we stand, in long arc of history:

-Story on left, adding race as a factor when that favors white people.

-Story on right, banning race as a factor when that favors non-whites.

I often complain about NYT headlines and story-play. But these are strong. Including "If Court Guts 1965 Law."
Two headlines on front page of NYT.

First is "Trump Weighs Transforming Refugee Policy. White People Would be Given Preference."

Second is "Justices May Ban Race as a Factor in District Maps. Nation's Political Balance Could Shift If Court Guts 1964 Law."

TL; DR, 2 big takeaways from this morning:

1. Judge Ellis wants to order ICE to wear body cameras. Govt. atty claimed this was "unworkable."

2. Ellis wants to question Chicago ICE field director Russell Hott on Monday, re: why she's seeing so many apparent TRO violations in the news already.
Good morning from judge Sara Ellis' federal courtroom in Chicago.

We're waiting for the 8:30 hearing in the case, scheduled just yesterday, to begin.

In the week since Ellis entered the order meant to curtail federal immigration agents' violent behavior, they've gassed two Chicago neighborhoods.
New development re: the temp restraining order meant to rein in federal agents' violence towards press and the public in the Chicago area.

Per a court entry filed today, a new hearing in the case has been set for tomorrow morning.

Prelim injunction hearing still set for 10/23, per the court.

U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis just took the bench in this lawsuit over the use of force against ICE protesters in Chicago.
U.S. District Judge Sara Ellis is set to hold a hearing in this case at 8:30 am CT. Unclear why she called it (it was before the filing below).

DISCLAIMER: The Chicago Newspaper Guild is a plaintiff. I’m a member but not an officer, and I’ve had no involvement in the suit (other than covering it).
Good morning. An overnight court filings reveals discussions took place Wednesday over whether the Trump administration has violated a judge's order addressing the use of force in its Chicago immigration campaign.

"The government believes the TRO has not been violated at all."

The entire Republican Party strategy for achieving what are comprehensively & wildly unpopular policy objectives now consists entirely of bypassing Article I of the Constitution through wildly illegal abuses of both Article II and Article III.
Whatever you think about CFPB, it was created by Congress (as part of the Dodd-Frank Act) and can only be abolished by Congress, not by the President acting as a dictator.
White House budget director Vought plans to shut down CFPB within months, says it's no longer protecting consumers reut.rs/4qjMIyT

Big news of the day included the announcement of a new hearing for the restraining order meant to rein in federal agents’ violent behavior.

Despite the order, agents have deployed tear gas in two separate Chicago communities in the week since the judge handed it down.

Trump and Vought are now breaking both sides of spending law. They’re illegally not spending where the law requires them to spend, and they’re illegally spending where they don’t have the money to spend.

What we have is an appropriations king.

Spending “deals” are meaningless under that setup.
