Phones being so expensive these days is annoying. I don't really want a new one I just want a new battery but I'm also not going to pay like $500 for a year old model. I'd rather just ride this one into the ground.

Netflix's commitment to canceling TV shows and also throwing away money because they want movie theaters to fail is always impressive.

They could have had a whole event with silly little over priced popcorn buckets which would have made their fans happy but they really want the venues to die.

They became friends ultimately. But I think this type of lesson is lost on the modern internet and it explains why there are entire ecosystems of people who just professionally run their mouth about people they don't know.

A formative lesson I had in the earlier years of the internet. Someone on the forum ran their mouth at someone else. The person who ran their mouth eventually ran into the person they where shit talking in person. The shit talker got beat up. Had their photo posted online.

I skipped through the rest of the lessons to see if they cover it, nothing stood out. I found a really good youtube creator who does cover it in a way that I like. So now I suspect my journey will be GDQuest+this channel.

Finding a good guide that does not frustration is like 90% of the battle learning anything.

Had a similar issue with GDQuest not showing you how they built the actual level scene, and having it premade. Went to make my own "games" version of that lesson but realized I can't make a level.

I wanted to be done with it after season one but always lived with or dated someone who watched it so I've seen it all.

collar gate is the latest instance of a trumped-up non-issue blossoming into a large-scale psychosis event – and possibly the dumbest. it's also the modern internet doing exactly what it was engineered to do

To be honest, I wouldn’t be mentioning this if not for the fact that it’s a microcosm of how online platforms work today: Somebody makes an accusation based on evidence that’s spurious at best, big names with something to gain (viewership or the downfall of a perceived enemy) uncritically boost it, internet sleuths obsessively piece together supporting evidence by amassing context-free clips and ignoring everything that doesn’t match their intended conclusion, and all of the aforementioned parties spread performatively apoplectic videos across Reddit, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, and wherever else they can sucker in uninitiated normies.

Some version of this happens every week – every day, on a smaller scale – without fail. It accomplishes nothing aside from giving the disaffected masses a brief glimmer of what feels like purpose, but is actually a bloodsucking waste of their precious time on this dying planet. And of course, it provides platforms with sweet, sweet engagement numbers. As a result, platforms will probably never intervene to disrupt this corrosive dynamic, which has broken the general public’s ability to perceive anything resembling objective reality, even as society collapses around them and people like Piker attempt to identify the real reasons why (hint: they don't involve dog collars).

The internet has been like this at least since the Depp v. Heard trial, which wannabe sleuths similarly feasted on in 2022 while getting pretty much every important detail completely wrong. At least back then they were obsessing over something of consequence. Now they’ve taught viewers to regard every trumped-up non-issue they can surface with similar gravity.

Kind of crazy I still see folks obsessively talking bout Hasan and his dog. I feel like I got so much done and did so many things at the same time that folks spent days frothing over a one minute twitch clip.

I don’t think it’s good that we have an entire class of media elites who believe that people getting mad at them means they’re doing a good job, but identifying that makes me wonder if it’s actually better to not get mad at them and deprive them of what they want.

It's been much more enjoyable skipping fight nights here and there and then watching PPVs and must see fights on the fight nights.

Will get what I can out of the UFC for now without making it a priority.
