HCWs need easy and free access to vaccines. Without the vaccine, there is greater risk that they will pick up Covid or the flu and pass it on to a vulnerable resident.
Hey AB, let's talk about vaccine access - specifically what it used to be like for busy HCWs caring for sick ABs with highly infectious diseases🧵 :
- in the hospitals, roving vaccine teams would come around and give you a shot while on shift!

“From 1981 to 2015, there were an average of 18 smoke hours per year in the city of Calgary. No year had over 100.

Now we see hundreds of smoke hours routinely: 315 in 2017, 450 in 2018, 439 in 2021, 512 in 2023, and 2024 was ‘only’ 200.”

It’s really disappointing. The smoke has so many layers of bad - the health impacts, the reminder of the reality of climate change and the overarching reminder that the order we create out of nature is fundamentally so fragile - nature always bats last.
And so few seem fussed.

I have many of his books but was only able to see one of his exhibitions. Standing in front of a massive Sebastião Salgado print is life changing. RIP knowing the world is more truly seen because of your vision🕊

Can confirm that admitting teams have been begging for supports to expand capacity and allow 4 safe care for years. Without it docs have left and fewer admitting teams result. Those teams have safety limits as well. The Frontline HCW is doing their best. We need execs to come, see, listen & act.
Maybe with some actual leadership in the Acute Care Agency, the disintegration will slow, and someone can attempt to address this chaos?

Our HC teams have literally been begging for help to fix our ED overcrowding, yet govt decided "refocusing" was to get 100% of its attn

PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.

Diversity initiatives were meant to overcome the old patterns of nepotism, so I guess it makes sense that the enemies of diversity are big fans of nepotism.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.
