i know like one or two people like that, and like, to me it's a big puzzle, because what makes narcissists act like that plays out on a societal scale. maybe very few Americans are clinical narcissists, but their collective interactions are like a diffuse reality warping narcissistic miasma of abuse

at the heart of every narcissist psychology is a fear of death, literal or sublimated. it's an aversion to the pain and humiliation of not being the writer of reality. that pain gets spun like a centrifuge and expelled at others. eventually introspection and social senses deteriorate. logic follows.
