Episode 417: Damn Orioles
www.birdseyeviewbaltimore.com/episode-417-...

That's a wrap for the 2025 season. We look back, look ahead, and mostly just try to look away.

Also, we can't tell whether or not we're being stalked by an AI bot, and we wonder ownership should do with a billion dollars.
Episode 417: Damn Orioles - Bird's Eye View
This was not a very fun week of Orioles Baseball. On the plus side... on the plus side... we'll get back to you on that.

If Albert Pujols can’t improve this offense, then no one can.

I have thought about having two feeds on my account.

One for everything
One for just posts (no retweets)

Didn’t add this feed yet but have considered it.

Would turning off all reposts work in settings?

Let's say Adley has a healthy '26 and lands in line with his expected stats from '25, say .250/.330/.420, .335 wOBA, 115 wRC+, with +4 defense at catcher and around 4 WAR.

He'll be heading into his final year of arb at age 29, projected for 12-14M. Would you try to extend him? What would you offer?

This should also be “all of their money”

Bregman would cost a lot.
birdseyeviewbal.bsky.social
If they got Bregman and Greene and nothing else, it would still be disappointing as that means they didn’t use any of their money.

Combine it with a few extensions and I could change my tune.

My son brought up an interesting alternate timeline in which Lamar Jackson's injury was season-ending, and it was the Ravens who acquired an elder statesman, Joe Flacco, to finish the season.

Maybe not so many wins [so no different from reality...], but would have been fun, nonetheless.

Until we see, there is no reason to believe they would sign a 5/$200M+ contract.

Thinking about offseason options for the Orioles, and imagining their counter offer to fans:

"Would you care for some of these magic beans?"
birdseyeviewbal.bsky.social
I do agree that I think the Orioles have to add at least one more name to it to make it happen, but I don’t think its a huge delta.

Maybe someone like Boston Bateman.

I thought about IKF.

Prefer the Gleyber idea.
birdseyeviewbal.bsky.social
I almost wrote that but didn’t want to be too negative this early in the morning.

For 3B, I’d look to Bohm or Arenado.

I am a bit concerned about SS backup if Gunnar is injured again. But I think thats something you have in minors to bring up and hope Gunnar is not out for long.

Thought about this more last night and have a proposal:

Red and Orioles exchange Greene for Holliday. Reds get extra year of club control and pair him with Elly to transform franchise.

Orioles move Westburg to 2B and aggressively pursue Bregman to fill in 3B.
oriolesreview.bsky.social
Several potential Orioles SP targets here, but I don't Greene gets moved, I'm not sure BAL is willing to give up the kind of young, established positional talent that the Reds would want for Lodolo or even Abbott, and I'm not sure Singer is a good enough target for what the Orioles need.

Basallo launching a HR next year in ALCS is gonna be cool.

Many thanks! The trouble for me is that the O's songs tend to replace the originals in my brain. I can no longer remember any of the real lyrics to '50 Ways to Leave Your Lover' et al.
birdseyeviewbal.bsky.social
That was amazing.

Articles will be written about that play for decades to come.

No I want in the header.

During regular season you could do this by hitting tracker button.
birdseyeviewbal.bsky.social
Is there any way to track games in MLB app like during regular season?

I can go into app but I’d like it as a header or on lock screen.
