i eventually had several more comments that also missed the point so it was probably actually me who simply expressed the point badly, as usual. Or maybe this is simply a dumb point to try making about something that doesn't matter. HOWEVER nobody pointed out that the shoes are inaccurate, so far.

i always liked cecil's design, and I heard an unexpected allusion to it yesterday, and today i was misremembering who wrote the ninja turtle theme song, then saw it was chuck lorre, and then on from there and it seemed like the right time to look into this but that was perhaps actually 12 hours ago

i end up liking few cartoons anyway but these were ahead of their times with their erratic pacing, long-winded self-aware dialog and hokey voice acting. I really should do earlier in the day things that are likely to haunt me when i should be trying to sleep, but i couldn't have planned for this.

I just tried to watch an episode of the 1988 Beany and Cecil revival cartoon, the one with John Kricfalusi and Chuck Lorre that got cancelled after 5 episodes, and it made me really uncomfortable. So then I tried to watch a 1962 edition and that ALSO made me uncomfortable, but was over much sooner.

i of course draw stereotyped otherized femininity regularly but i am AWARE of it and try to have it be its own self-contained normalcy. it was very likely cartoons that drove my fixation on it.

bugs bunny is also naked, generally, otherwise, so the situation isn't comparable. you might not become a drag queen but you might develop a highly stereotyped sense of male as default and neutral with female as "other"

it mostly does not affect me directly but i know it very easily could reach and cross a barrier that allows it to do so, and I want to be aware when it hurts others. I may be too eager to share thoughts that i think are profound or clever in places where most people just want to see stupid drawings

when i complain about and identify my older brother, that is because his behavior hurts people and not just me. another whom i call "my relative" but perhaps not consistently, i should clarify is a different person, that I think mostly hurts himself by idolizing bigots, so i have more sympathy there

only self-contained "graphic novels" have any value, which is sad. thousands of monthly issues and great art talent wasted on endless cash-in marketing.

it is impossible to know where to start with any of those comics because they are released monthly and one character is often in 2 or 5 other comics also that might be separate continuities because they are designed to be accessible and almost worthless like newspaper comics.

unfortunately that is consistent with the source material! they used all the interesting stories solidified across decades of otherwise repetitive, clickbaity, executive mandated comic gimmicks in the first few movies and now have fallen on to the same gimmicks that the comics rely on to get sales
