but what about the car washes!!!!
plus like, more frequency on the green line so people aren't waiting around as long
i feel like the whole capacity thing on 82nd ave could have just been solved with better transfers between existing bus lines and the MAX green line.

the green line wasn't designed with transfers in mind- bus stops are sometimes 10 minutes walking away. it's often quicker to transfer to the 72.
assuming you are referring to car drivers, here's the stats for salem.

www.mwvcog.org/media/5941

Page 88 of the pdf.

23% of people riding transit felt some level of unsafe while doing so, as opposed to 19% of drivers.
transit drivers, or car drivers?
it's got buffers now but it still sucks
between these two points in South Salem approximately.

18" traffic separator in a 3' bike lane buffer. northbound only. approximately 1/4 mile of protected bike lane for 75,000 dollars
really offsets the crushing defeat of the Seattle Mariners
the group landed on option b as it was a scope limited project (1/4 mile, ome side of the street) and was actually only a sidewalk installation project that was tearing up the bike lane anyway.
just got home from a public meeting that was split on a vote between

a. no bike lane protection
b. concrete traffic seperator protection
and
c. shared use path

I can't stress enough how good it felt to hear the discussion was between the *types* of protection, not if it should be there.

Obama sharing a video of himself wearing a crown and flying a King Obama jet that dumped shit all over Americans would have been the only thing the news networks talked about for weeks.

Meanwhile, Trump doing that very thing couldn't even warrant a discussion on the Sunday shows today.

Yesterday's No Kings protests were apparently the largest since the first Earth Day in 1970

The NYT covered that story with a six column headline across the top of the paper and two full pages inside

Today, two small pics below the fold and a story on page A23

They constantly let America down
will have to drive to go up and meet my sister on a Sunday afternoon, because the other option is me being in Portland from 10am to 5pm while I've got other stuff i actually need to do that day
really frustrating that these 5 options for going south of Portland on transit are effectively two given the times of departure

like why do we have nothing until 11am, 3 southbound trips from 11am-noon, and then another few clustered around 6pm?

nothing between 2 and 5, and 6-930.

interesting report from IFS with @bobbyfijan.bsky.social on the lack of family sized homes in US apartments due in part to financing regiments leading to market failures and overproduction of studios and 1BR homes.

also note the plug for single stair buildings.

this might be news to some, but vacancies drive rents down

The fact the governor of Illinois is beging for citizen coverage because media as a whole is intentionally not covering the governments terror campaign should be absolutely a five alarm fire if you are not already figuring out the federal government is at war against us.
People of Illinois, we need your help.

Get your cell phones out – record what you see. Put it on social media. Peacefully ask for badge numbers and identification. Speak up for your neighbors.

We need to let the world know this is happening – and that we won’t stand for it.

that we have built an alternate media ecosystem in which every American city is an apocalyptic hellhole - completely unmoored from reality - and the political system has collapsed to the point that the president can use this fabrication to send troops against his own citizens is a staggering failure

Whenever people talk about "luxury housing," I remember there are literal mansions in Hartford, CT that are now selling for less than it costs to buy a starter home in Silicon Valley. If we judge luxury by market value, there is no housing that is intrinsically, permanently "luxury housing."
