My youngest kid got a phone for their birthday, and it was funny to get a text that just said "This is my number, and everyone is making fun of me for remembering grammar when I text people" and I let them know they'll grow out of it.

And then added ellipses and a thumbs up emoji because I'm old

I feel like the Xbox Ally handhelds are inherently compromised products because ALL the marketing says "You can play all your Xbox games! No exceptions!" and that's, like, not true. You can play Xbox Play Anywhere games and other PC titles but not anything Xbox-specific.

Oh good, ChatGPT is getting "erotica for verified adults" later this year
We made ChatGPT pretty restrictive to make sure we were being careful with mental health issues. We realize this made it less useful/enjoyable to many users who had no mental health problems, but given the seriousness of the issue we wanted to get this right. Now that we have been able to mitigate the serious mental health issues and have new tools, we are going to be able to safely relax the restrictions in most cases. In a few weeks, we plan to put out a new version of ChatGPT that allows people to have a personality that behaves more like what people liked about 4o (we hope it will be better!). If you want your ChatGPT to respond in a very human-like way, or use a ton of emoji, or act like a friend, ChatGPT should do it (but only if you want it, not because we are usage-maxxing). In December, as we roll out age-gating more fully and as part of our “treat adult users like adults” principle, we will allow even more, like erotica for verified adults.

My first time listening to this record on a proper stereo, with the volume all the way up. My reaction?

Listen, it was recorded for like $20 and that comes through, but it's also a LOT heavier than I remember, with some really great drumming. One of the better garage rock debuts.

Doing a Mad Men rewatch and everyone focuses on the womanizing and the boozing and the beautiful people and the horrible depictions of anything involving race.

It's also a long meditation on a terrifying idea: What if your imposter syndrome was real? What if you really didn't belong there?
