i don't feel like magic set surveys usually have this question and i don't appreciate the implication that content creators, who do so so much for the game, are possibly to blame for a bad set's poor performance. 👎

It's tough to explain exactly how nutty this new report from fossil fuel industry consultant Wood Mackenzie is, but I'm going to try in a short thread.

As you can guess: 1 trillion barrels of oil is...............................A LOT

How AI can unlock an extra trillion barrels of oil
And deliver the volumes needed to meet resilient demand

Stronger-for-longer oil demand will heap pressure on the upstream industry to deliver new supply. I asked our subsurface experts, Dr Andrew Latham, Orla Marnell and Josh Dixon how artificial intelligence can identify opportunities to meet the challenge.
Why do we need to unlock new supply?
The slow pace of the energy transition means that oil demand is likely to be far more resilient than some thought just a few years ago. Wood Mackenzie forecasts annual consumption won’t peak until the early to mid-2030s, and cumulative demand will be almost 1,000 billion barrels through 2050.
Firm demand throws the spotlight onto where new supply can be sourced. Production from assets already onstream or justified for development will gradually decline under current investment plans from just over 100 million b/d today to 50 million b/d 2050, cumulatively 650 billion barrels. That leaves a huge supply gap of 300 million barrels.

They have 100% always been this way, though notably the transition from helicopter rides and referencing crushing minorities abroad humorlessly transitioned to nazi shit, but like that's basically a new layer of paint instead of a new perspective.

For those tempted to say Young Republicans have always been this way, they really have not. When I worked on campus and did bipartisan college events after, they were very much not like this.
That's why groups like YCT and eventually TPUSA formed -because Young Republicans weren't radical enough.

The last time I had this much vacation accrued by Christmas was probably 2020 since I spent the whole year just working to take my mind off the pandemic and lockdown measures.

I've taken an extra day off here and there and a full week in September, but otherwise my next planned vacation is in December, where 3 days off got me a week and a 4-day weekend.
basicandbizarre.bsky.social
It's not that I CAN'T take vacations, I just don't see much point when there's nowhere to go and my girlfriend is stuck on the otherside of an increasingly dangerous border.

Last year I managed to use all my vacation by the end of December, save for 2-3 days.

This year not so much.

Previous job: "Yeah, if you could just not take any vacation ever that'd be great."

Current job: "This is a reminder to PLEASE make sure to use all of your vacation time before the end of the fiscal year."

We can carry over up to 2 weeks per year. I tend to carry some over.

This is Chop. He was shot and killed by masked assailants in plain clothes who go by ICE. They showed up at his door "looking for migrants after receiving a tip." The son of the family asked if they could wait before entering the home while he put Chop away in the bathroom, as the dog can be aggressive with strangers.
According to the family, it is at this point that the son went to his pickup truck to retrieve his ID and a Border Patrol agent entered the home, opened the bathroom door, and shot Chop. None of the agents helped the family, who desperately tried to render aid to Chop, as he bled to death on the kitchen floor. Unsurprisingly, the agent who shot their dog then hid from them and refused to give his name. Even more unsurprising, they did not find any evidence of the migrants they were there to terrorize in the first place.
Do not open your door for these fucking losers. Rest easy Chop

Trump and Bessent clarify that they will only help out Argentina as long as Milei is in power. Trump adds that the same thing goes with NYC, where the White House will hold up funds if Mamdani wins.

I tried branching out into short punchy video game videos as well ("Things in Video Games That Make You Go Hmmmmmm"), but they didn't catch on.

People liked it when I stole clothes in Fallout 4, though.

Gee Hugh, I don't know. Maybe it's that a notoriously stormy country shouldn't have large, cheap, easily ripped fabric tied - at power-line height - to lampposts around busy traffic intersections? The racism certainly doesn't help either!

I think my last episode was "Where on Earth is Carmen Sandiego?" and my episode on GI Joe Extreme never got finished. It was when I was hitting peak depression and autistic burnout and after all that it's just been a nonstarter.

This was also part of the series of videos/events that resulted in Leeman starting Ask Lovecraft (a show which became vastly more popular than mine because, let's be honest, Leeman is funnier than me) and led to my "no plot unless it's funny" policy.

I got to kill Spoony on screen in one of my videos way back in the day. I was talking about In the Mouth of Madness and got people around ConBravo to say that they read Sutter Cane, then Noah insisted on fully reenacting the book store scene.

Please be conscious if you protest this weekend that there are feds at the protest. They look like you and they sound like you, not like Steve Buscemi in that one clip with the skateboard. Thinking you can spot them is self delusion. Nobody you haven’t met needs to know your last name.

lets say a wizard has cursed you with a lot of money. you are going to become permanently brain damaged simply by being in possession of so much money. the only way out of it is to spend a lot of money on something ridiculous and not at all useful

what would you buy to break the curse?
