An IRB should absolutely have flagged that. Jesus I remember getting shit from the IRB during my dissertation research almost 30 years ago for not spending at least a full year at each community where I was doing ethnographic research. Bad survey methodology should have been an immediate revision.

I had a few teachers like that in my rural Kentucky schools. It never made me try harder but it did piss me off enough to try and undermine those teachers at every opportunity.

I kinda wonder if people are getting that the government may *never* reopen as we knew it. It’s been the stated goal of the Bannon wing of the GOP for years.

I suspect Trump will eventually just claim emergency Appropriations powers & reopen only the parts he wants while Congress becomes a Duma.

As shutdown enters its 3rd week, expect it to impact the economy “in a nonlinear fashion.

“.. missed paychecks, slower pace of business investment ..

“.. our initial estimate of a 0.1% drag on GDP is now outdated, and we expect a 0.25% drag per week, or 1% per month.”

What, the Reds getting a handful of scrub pitchers for whatever infield talent we happen to develop that season isn’t compensation? 😂

'Sora cost $20 a month & subscribers can generate an unlimited number of AI videos... this costs (Sora owners) OpenAI "at least $5 per 10-second video"'.

Journalists, please ask more questions about how this tech could ever in a million years make a profit?

Look, my Celtics got absolutely hammered by the second apron danger in the NBA Salary Cap this offseason and had to break up the Championship team as a result, but I still think that the Cap is a Good Thing, Actually. There may not be NBA parity, but as you say, it does feel Fair.

as per Donny McCaslin, Bowie was listening to "Black Messiah" during the making of Blackstar (it had come out a month or so before sessions began), and you really hear it in many corners of that record.

I could support the Sacramento Kings if they'd move back to Cincinnati and become the Royals again.
