Disabled people should be allowed to get married without losing our healthcare. We shouldn’t have to choose between weddings and staying alive. In 2025 we still have no marriage rights or property rights. We never have, and it’s total shit. Fuck Eugenics, we deserve so much better.

On the Source and Origin of Monks (1545)
Three devils perch on a gallows, one of whom is relieving himself by excreting a pile of monks onto the ground. The verses which accompanied this picture explain the scene: once upon a time, the Devil had begun to suffer severe abdominal pains, 'as if he were in labor.' Climbing onto a gallows, he strained and strained until he had relieved himself of the cause of his discomfort. Observing the results of his efforts, he remarked that it was no wonder that he had suffered so much; such crafty knaves as monks were were than he and all his fellow demons; should they gather in his kingdom, he would be expelled himself. Instead, the Devil saw to it that monks were scattered throughout the world. This broadsheet invokes popular beliefs besides the association of defecation with demons; it recalls a popular superstition about places of execution being the haunt of evil spirits, as well as the belief that anyone born under a gallows would end hung on one. The monks are thus both 'gallow-knaves' and the Devil's excrement.

McCain’s argument is literally the same as “Hitler can’t have been a dictator because he was constitutionally appointed to power” which is both true in a technical sense, utterly irrelevant , and an argument I have seen for real in the wild.

And the only way to end it now is to get states to pass laws to go with popular vote. Michigan is the biggest hold out on voting for this even though a majority of people there are in favor of it. Guess who is preventing it from being voted upon?

Because the minority of people who are fine with this shitshow truly believe all their problems are because of immigration/women/education. They were sold a fantasy of its never their fault when it is their fault. They vote Republicans who cut education but it’s DEI at fault.

I had an ex coworker start some rant on FB about how things would be so much better is we only used American made products. From a guy who previously touted how awesome his expensive not made in the US espresso was.
The sheer disconnect here is astounding. He’s in his late 30s and definite Trumper.

I would note that this disdain points in one direction. These legacy media outlets have been quick to cover and hype tea party protests, anti-mask/anti-vax protests, and countless other examples of what they call “real Americans” engaging in protest.

For sure some of the legacy media outlets are downplaying the protests because they’re aligned with Trump, but I think an even bigger factor is how many elite journalists have a patrician disdain for the idea that politics can happen in the streets and not just the CNN green room.
