Personal gripe: the whole saying is "A few bad apples SPOIL THE BUNCH." Somehow this has transformed into "a few bad apples" being a phrase indicating "not a big deal", when the whole point is it IS a big deal because EVERYONE HAS GONE BAD THROUGH EXPOSURE

What really staggered me is that while I'm printing everything from 2004-2025, easily 80% was written from 2010-2014. I miss the days when my brain could churn out 5-7k words per week, no problem

It's been on my to-do list for months (I collected PDFs and saved them remotely once I realized how frequently AO3 was being scraped for LLMs, but hardware crashes are still a risk, that's how I lost everything pre-2004) and I came into a bunch of used binders last week. I took that as a sign.

one of the problems we've been facing is applying 20th century protest methods to the 21st century. the fact is that we're in a battle of the trolls and a small number of inflatable frogs has more viral, and therefore persuasive, power than 50k in the streets of a major city.
