One of the better photos I've taken of a stubble corridor fading into the distance during high summer as a miscellaneous sky stands guard and collects its thoughts.

It's aaaaliiiiiive!!! HEART OF STONE is now available again! Vampires and dragons and djinn, oh my! Welcome to the world of the Old Races as Margrit Knight discovers her hot new client isn't just wanted for murder - he's also a gargoyle!

...and with a little time for draft 5 (this month's Friday Fiction is time-sensitive). I'd also like to do some work on draft 6, if I can.

So lots to do. But first, coffee and a mince pie! <3
Morning :)

After the early sing-a-long (not sorry!), it's time to get down to work.

The day job list has six things on, most of which I can't actually finish until people get back to me (which is mildly annoying) so while I wait (and once I've done what I can!), it's back on draft 2...
Given what you do, I'd imagine it's stuck fairly permanently!

(Your photos are always a bright spot in the day.)
If *I* have to be earwormed, so do you...

(Beautiful photo, mind!)
Underground, Overground

My hunt to find locations where you can see Underground trains traveling over Overground trains (or vice versa) continues.

This vantage point near East Putney station has views of tube trains traveling over the railway. I waited 30 mins to get this shot.

@pottedhistory.bsky.social and I spent the morning in @nationaltrust.org.uk' Cragside. It's looking fabulous at the moment- full of autumn colour and fruitfullness. #Rothbury #Northumberland
But you do have to be careful with it outside of this kind of situation, otherwise you can be done for having an offensive person on your weapon.
...even if it DID uncover the need for a few more rewrites in draft 2. Oops.

Today looks like being a busy day job day, so my only non-day job thing is going to be those draft 2 rewrites.

So distractoweb off, fairylights on and time to get cracking with the five urgent day job tasks... <3
Morning :)

A little snippet to start the day:
For a few moments there was silence. Then, as nothing continued to happen, Marcel snorted. "Well that was anticlimactic."

It was an overall successful weekend. I didn't quite achieve my goals (do I ever?...!) but good solid progress was made...

As a biologist, It really is a great analogy. Also trees. It's like saying, "There are trees and grass, you have to be one or the other." Ok... where is the line that defines "is a tree?" what about bush-like grasses? Palm trees? NON-tree palms? What about horsetails and their tree-like ancestors?
UPDATE 3:
Not much actually written down on draft 2, but a few solutions figured out, so hopefully my regular Sunday morning session will see this goal achieved.
UPDATE 2:
Selfcare achieved, Christmas shopping ticked off and I've also beaten up a pile of bandits which possibly also comes under the heading of selfcare...

Now time for draft 2.
I think I got to 12,000, if that makes you feel any better! (Hopefully November will be a serious upgrade for both of us!)
I failed dismally on that one last month, but I’m hopeful for this one 😁 (and if I got some bonus words in after, that would be awesome!)
UPDATE 1:
Part 1 of draft 5 is taken care of; part 2 of draft 5 is taking shape (plotting was accomplished while I walked into town) and now for a spot of selfcare before hitting the shops to do my Christmas shopping.
I’m only hoping for 40k, but otherwise yes 😁
Okay; NEXT year, I am so doing this.

It will fly right over the heads of virtually everyone, I know, but if I can't amuse myself, who can I amuse?!
Watch out for Ea Nasir this Halloween!
I also have all the inevitable household chores and tonight is/should be trick-or-treating.

So a busy weekend and, at some point in there, I do want to both sleep AND do something that isn't writing or housework!

Time to crack on with the day job stuff.

Updates, as and when <3
If (and only if!) I get all of that done:
-Draft 1 - formatting
-Draft 3 - reworking
-Draft 7/8 - plotting
-Draft 9 - planning (oh yes...)

I will, at some point (probably at the end of next month) renumber the drafts and (maybe) actually mention which project they are. Maybe...
...so more or less priority order:
-Draft 5 pt 1 - post Friday Fiction
-Draft 2 - this needs to be exported, printed and ready for red penning
-Draft 6 - this needs to get a big jump towards being ready to export
-Draft 5 pt 2 - get November's Friday Fiction plotted
-Website admin task
Morning - and happy Samhain :)

Day job stuff to start the weekend - and lots of it, given it's both Friday AND month end (who thought it was a good idea to combine those?!)

After that comes the list of doom - and there are a couple of things on it that I absolutely have to get done this weekend...
