I want more people to care that SNAP benefits are being cut off on November 1. 40% of SNAP beneficiaries are children. This is callous and vile.
Who knows what path I'm going to take, but I know that no matter what, I'm going to die someday. So will you. So will everyone you know. How you go and what you leave behind are everything.

Thanks for listening to my TED Talk.
Just writing about this conjures up the fifteen minutes after he was gone. We were too slow to close his mouth. Rigor mortis had already set in and we couldn't move his jaw. Haunted by that image for months afterward, just thinking about it and I'm back at the hospice again. It's been 15 years.
Robin Williams chose to go on his own terms, and people called it mental illness. It was his only path out.

If you haven't seen it anywhere except in a movie or TV show, you have no idea what it looks like in reality. It took a YEAR of therapy to deal with the trauma afterwards of losing my dad.
I've made this more than clear elsewhere so let me state it here for the record, too. I *will* die on this hill. Pain meds are necessary at the end of life without the option to exit because starving to death is painful and that's what the last 1-2 weeks of life are like for a patient with dementia.
I already have the DNR in my living will. I just hope my kids are never forced to make that choice for me.

I have had a living will since I was in 7th grade, two years BEFORE my mother's death at 43yo. I was 12.

I have no doubt people imagine the worst for these laws. I don't care.
That's not how it works. The person choosing must be the one to administer.

Given my family history, the moment I get a whiff that I'm taking Dad's path, my doc will dx terminal cancer. I refuse to die the way Dad did. Period.

Also and again, GOP members of Congress are, by their actions, fine with this.
Pentagon staffers will now need to get prior approval before sharing any information with Congress, according to a new memo from Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and his deputy that Axios reviewed.
After leaks, Hegseth limits Pentagon staff's interaction with Congress
The new directive could limit congressional oversight of department activities.

Sanae Takaichi, leader of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, won the lower house vote to choose the next prime minister, clearing the way for her inauguration as the country's first female premier later in the day. Follow our live coverage: reut.rs/3WMijLN
@governor.ny.gov I am begging you: Sign this bill.

Everyone dies. EVERYONE should be allowed to choose how they will go, because most folks aren't lucky enough to die in their sleep, unless it's in a medically induced coma.

Prolonging an inevitable and painful death is cruel, not beautiful.
If you want to understand what it means to choose, sit down and watch How to Die in Oregon. Not everyone can, and not everyone will.

Put together your living will, make your plans while you can still think straight, and ensure that you can take the option if it presents itself. howtodieinoregon.com

I know my former home, Maryland, came close, and it was a Democratic senator who finally shot down their MAID bill. That was my final straw. I moved back to NY because I had some hope that NY would have more sense. Should people be forced to choose death? Hell, no. Force isn't the goal. It's choice.
We talk about this all wrong. Nobody gets out of here alive. Birth is a terminal condition. Our ability to leave should be on our own terms. We should be allowed to choose when and how we go. Waiting and watching your loved ones starve to death over days is brutal. Agonizing. Hospice is not enough.
In my world there is no debate. My mom lingered for 9 years with no hope for a recovery after her primary progressive Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis. Years before Dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia he was more than clear: If something went wrong, he wanted out.

I just can't with this. It makes me so angry just thinking about the long term destruction of EVERYTHING this year. They poison everything they touch. I don't understand how anyone could vote for these people.
We were always at war with Eastasia...or Eurasia...I think.

Californians, this is it. In honor of the No Kings protests and to protect democracy, get that Prop 50 ballot in and vote YES.

Remind your friends, your family, and everyone you know—democracy only works if we do.

Hi, I'm the ProPublica reporter who's been tracking an unusual stat: U.S. citizens grabbed by immigration agents.

I did it because the government isn’t.

This is what I found.
