I think there's a big learning curve between not being fash and being safe though, and I wouldn't feel comfortable taking a self defense class, for example, from most formers.

I would certainly like to see more formers distributing stuff like pepper gel and other self-defense items at cost, buying firearms for others, and sharing everything they know.

Don't get me wrong, I fully support people being armed against fascist violence and I also support retributive justice as a viable option.

I never had a mentor who knew how to deal with that. I did have hundreds of people that took their time to educate me in one way or another though, and I appreciate that greatly.

I like the idea of public trials. I don't think everyone can change though and we need alternatives.

I have my own suggestions, but I'm more curious to hear from other people what their versions of justice specifically for people exiting the far-right could look like.

It's up to you, personally, to decide what justice looks like in these cases. Not on behalf of some other minority group you claim to have the best intentions for (you don't speak for them) but for you. Can trust ever be built? Is that something that should even be considered?

There are plenty of us who come from right-wing backgrounds who work on making our own amends and can help facilitate this for others, but in the end it's not up to us to decide what accountability looks like.

I'm well aware that it is an individual evaluation, as supporters vary greatly from people who are rounding up and terrorizing children to those who just passively support those and other harmful actions.

I usually like to at least chat with formers trying to get into activism usually to discourage them unless they've been out for a while. I tried reaching out to her on bluesky and IRL but can't get a good read on her intentions.

I've found people often change what they say and think to justify their actions (or lack of action) rather than the other way around.

It's easier to make excuses about how "that wouldn't work anyway" or "it's best to just ignore them" instead of changing from doing very little to helping.

I never understand folks who complain abt how OTHER ppl protest. If you don’t like protesters to cuss or where frog suits, why don’t YOU go protest wearing a tuxedo and reciting the Magna Carta? No one’s stopping you, least of all the frogman, who will likely leap for joy for your involvement
