What about New Zealand though? In refugia where terrestrial mammals are still absent, oviparity is the dominant reproductive strategy.

This is an interesting research topic though, what egg-related behaviors were lost with the arrival of humans and other egg predators?

Some plant fossils, like this piece of Triassic wood, retain some organic matter of their cell walls 🌿⛏️ With a little bit of chemistry we can remove minerals & transfer the organic matter on a piece of cellulose acetate that can be observed under the microscope 🧪Happy #FossilFriday! #paleobotany
Given the topic, that’s a pretty full school, in more ways than one! 🐟

Flamboyant dinosaurs. Beautiful visuals. Compelling storytelling. Hard-core science.
Walking With Dinosaurs is back!
And I'm excited for you all to see what many of us have been working on behind the scenes for years...
I'm so excited for the world to see what we've been working on. It is such a genuine joy to see my babies out in the world! Walking with Dinosaurs - coming soon.
Wait, where did they say that they deliberately made them white to look like the GoT wolves? They’re obviously not shying away from the reference by photographing the puppies on the Iron Throne and having GRRM hold them… but where’s the direct confirmation?
Yes I’m also confused by this? That’s the same amount of time that separates us from the chimpanzees/bonobos. I’m struggling to find more information about which genes were changed and how much that shortens the genetic gap between the two genera…
The exhibits at the new EFM are extraordinarily awesome!

"gentle giants"? I don't think so. Get smushed, theropod.

Gemini is using Pterosaur Heresies as one of it's sources now. Extremely concerning...
Is this from a known genera? Such a great prep job!
What you see below is a ‘woolly’ mouse—viable mice with #WoollyMammoth genes, sporting a thick golden coat and extra fat reserves. This proof of concept is a major success for #deextinction, demonstrating how #Genomics and #CRISPR could help revive species we’ve lost to extinction! #Biotech #Science
Scientists Have Bred Woolly Mice on Their Journey to Bring Back the Mammoth
The mice were created by Colossal Biosciences, which edits DNA for species conservation, and has been working to bring back the woolly mammoth since 2021.

Well, at least USA Today has its priorities straight.
I find the contemporary “Darwin as a Monkey” art pieces so funny. Sure, they were satirical and thinly veiled mockery, but the fact that they look oddly plausible (like his head really could fit on there) kind of illustrates the point of “The Descent of Man”.
Their companion art book is fantastic!
People are very flippant with accusations of using AI sometimes. I wouldn't sweat it too bad, nice photo!
Did you know sea turtles at one point reclaimed the niche of predatory marine reptiles during the Age of Mammals? Trachyaspis, a Miocene pelagic sea turtle, evolved a pseudodont (‘false-toothed’) jaw and powerful forelimbs, likely chasing large, fast-moving cephalopods. #TurtlePower

You’re telling me you don’t like Fast & Furious with cgi playdough Velociraptors? That’s just what everyone who was captivated by the original film wants! /s
Science communicators preparing for the millions of questions kids will now ask about the weird dinosaur mutant thing in #JurassicWorld.
