Following the record-breaking 2023 marine heatwave and the ninth mass coral bleaching, staghorn and elkhorn corals have dwindled to populations too small to reproduce

Well worth supporting BBOWT if you don't already... "Chimney Meadows" is the largest of their nature reserves. Warburg in the Chilterns a great place too - have walked there a few times, & earlier in the year cycled a bridleway from Cookley Green through Warburg, to Bix & beyond. Good stuff.
🌳 The current owners of Hamgreen Wood have carefully managed the woodland rides over the past thirty years.

When the time came for them to sell, they knew BBOWT had the expertise to care for their precious land.

London is proud to host Japan's Grand Sumo Tournament this week - it's fantastic to see the the teams using our cycling infrastructure to get around.

Thames Water has announced that the hosepipe ban for OX postcodes is to continue after receiving 50% of the average rainfall over the last six months. They also warn of increased likelihood of localised flooding during periods of heavy rain on exceptionally dry ground, due to increased run off.
I hear you & do have a rack 'n bungees on my local journey 'leave in unattended' bike, which I use panniers on.
Though everyone should of course carry at least two reusable cable ties on any bike journey, at all times... 😁
Easiest way to use the hopeless GWR vertical bike spaces, for one stop & when train is quiet, with some handy reusable cable ties...
These ones tell the knee scuff tale, of when I had an off on a slimey mini roundabout...
Still going after all these years. No longer made though...

Nice. Love the NYMs - stayed there a few times (with bike), not far from Rosedale Chimney bank. 😮🙂
Yes, more of an modern 'VespaCar' style submicrovan...

Private Eye offers up an excellently scornful commentary on the relentless polling. It’s become ridiculous and has oversimplified our politics to dangerous levels of stupid and irresponsible.
Trip to Abingdon Ock Street, October fair last night. One of my tasks was to bring home some candy floss - cable tied to the saddle pack... Also tested out the new Lumintop B01 bike light - pretty good. Takes 21700 or 18650 cells...

Also… this kind of thing is just frustrating. On several greenways (which are signposted traffic-free cycleways) near me the A frame barriers are far too narrow for this e-bike. I imagine anyone with an adapted cycle would find this impossible to get past.
That's a corker of a poor misjudged overtake. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen an oncoming driver have to slow up as someone overtakes.

Request: contraflow cycle lanes

Can anyone point me towards any guidance or examples which basically confirm "this is ok"?

Usual social media backlash from a few people, and I'd like to be armed with the facts (FWIW I love this)
10x 200kms in October? 😮 Epic.

Exclusive: Strava just sued Garmin, demanding the company stop selling all their fitness devices (watches and bike computers), due to infringing on a patent. I dive into what's being said, a whole lot of history, what it means, and much more: www.dcrainmaker.com/2025/10/stra...
Unfortunately, CCTV just does not deter determined bike thieves, & train stations are basically 'deli-bars' for these criminals = use a folding bike/ use a 'low risk', non stand out bike, &, still use two locks - at least one good quality D-lock. Leaving an e-bike = using a LiteLok, or two?
The New Road descent in the direction of Wantage, just W of the Letcombes, is a goody though. Fairly long, good visibility, surface not bad, & nicely steep but not too much... 🙂
That looks close! Seems like a case of 'Must get in front - mustn't go over the double solid lines - nevermind closepassing the cyclist'. You do have to wonder what became of the 'hang back a second until safe to pass'.
