I've asked for clarification on whether the Howitzer rounds are being fired over the freeway and am awaiting response. Will update if and when I get it.
Update: Marine official tells KPBS no munitions will be fired from Navy ships Saturday.

It's 155mm Howitzer rounds firing into designated ranges.

Recap: NO freeway closure, NO missiles from Navy ships over the 5.
Good afternoon Andrew,

Thank you for reaching out. No ordnance will be fired from U.S. Navy ships during this event.

The Amphibious Capabilities Demonstration is a live-fire event. Marines will fire 155mm high explosive rounds from M777 Howitzers. The M777 will fire into designated ranges with all safety precautions in place. Simulated explosives and visual effects will be used to enhance training value and audience understanding. Safety remains our top priority. All ordnance and pyrotechnics will be used under strict safety controls with emergency support on site.

i subscribe to the new yorker primarily because it's still amazingly good at digging up Guys. "Revolutionary Socialism-Curious Landlord" is an inner circle hall of fame type of guy to uncover

THE NEW YORKER 100

Lee told me he believes that the rent freeze and H.S.T.P.A. are part of a plot to force small-property owners, like him, to sell their buildings to large developers, on the cheap. "They're deliberately trying to prevent us from renovating apartments and getting income from it," he said. Who were "they". "The Democratic Party implement the laws," he explained, "but it's the real-estate establishment—what I define as the ruling class or the 'deep state' version of New York City."

Lee, a former train operator, said he identifies as a leftist. "I consider myself a progressive," he told me. "Ive studied enough of the Soviet economy and real revolutionary socialist movements." When I e-mailed him, I noticed that his profile image appeared to be a photo of a vintage Chinese Communist propaganda poster: "It's just solidarity," he said, when I asked him about it later,
"with progressive revolutionary struggles." He paused. "But I do realize that, in terms of small-property owners, which is being a landlord—is it counterintuitive? Is it counter-revolutionary:" He thought for a moment. "I guess not so now because of the fact that, even in China, there are landlords."
According to the Times it appears the admiral is stepping down over the ongoing extrajudicial attacks on alleged drug smuggling boats

Just in: the VP's office is blaming Gov. Gavin Newsom of falling for, and spreading, "fake news."
I'm doing everything I can to find out what the Navy is or isn't launching over the 5 on Saturday. If you know dm me here or on Signal

Indiana University cuts IDS print entirely, hours after firing student media director
By IDS staff

IU previously directed the Indiana Daily Student to stop printing news coverage in our newspaper. Upon pushback, the university fully cut print, including our special editions. The IDS was not involved in the decision.

Media School Dean David Tolchinsky sent the order to IDS leadership in an email responding to its appeal that the school not censor the newspaper. And the dean attributed the decision to “the campus.” He has not yet responded to a message for clarification.
While Pentagon reporters turn in their badges rather than agree to give the government say in what they publish, the Pentagon shifts billions to pay troops despite the government shutdown

It’s time we had more movies about submarines and I’m sick and fucking tired of having to say this obvious truth!

What Liberals Get Wrong About Trump’s Executive Order on Antifa
Liberals dismiss antifa as just an idea. That opens up the activists, researchers, and organizers to a real risk of persecution.
