I heard someone on a podcast paraphrase Stephen King and say the difference between Sci-Fi and Horror is “explanation”.
When you don’t know what something is, that’s horror. The questioning ‘how can this happen, why is this happening?’ that’s fear. When it’s explained? It’s scary, but not horror
